    Noisy

    rating13 May 2026

Pro’s - breakfasts were amazing & well worth being up early for. Concierge was very helpful. Location not too far out of centre - approx 30 minutes from McDonalds which is at far end of town, if you need a nice coffee.Con’s - very noisy air con and fridge. We turned air con in room off, but the main hotel system still hummed loudly & the bathroom fan doesn’t turn off so didn’t sleep well. There is construction work currently taking work at side of hotel.Recommend you check directly with hotel that you’re not under main air con system nor the noisy ice maker when booking. Junalyn B, at Royal Canadian Lodge, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us.We’re very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the breakfasts, found our concierge team helpful, and appreciated our convenient location close to downtown Banff. Your kind comments about the service truly mean a lot to our team.At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the noise concerns you experienced during your stay. We understand how important a restful night’s sleep is while traveling, and we regret that the air conditioning system, bathroom fan, and nearby renovation work affected your comfort. Your feedback regarding room placement and noise levels is greatly appreciated and will certainly be shared with our management and maintenance teams for review. We truly value your honest comments, as they help us continue improving the guest experience during our renovation period.Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future for a more relaxing and comfortable visit.Warm regards,JunalynFront Office Manager

    Horrible hotel

    rating11 May 2026

We had a terrible experience! Rude front desk, and really noisy. We barely slept. noisy. Rooms were bare bones. Not even a carpet. No amenities. Just a sad hot tub in the basement. I have no idea why it gets a decent rating.

    Great location and service!

    rating06 Apr 2026

The RCL was perfect for our family vacation! Located at the end of downtown it’s an easy walk to food and shops. Despite the lodge being under renovations (as we were informed at booking) everything was quiet and ran smoothly. The concierge Neil was a godsend, offering tips along the way as well as arranging for our party of 9 to have an all-day private tour by Andrew from Explore Banff Tours. The family agreed we will be back here again for a summer visit. Junalyn Bognot, Guest Services / Front Office at Royal Canadian Lodge, responded to this review Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing Royal Canadian Lodge for your family vacation! We are delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed our convenient location, quiet atmosphere, and overall guest experience during your stay. It’s especially rewarding to know that the renovation work did not negatively impact your visit and that everything ran smoothly throughout your time with us.A special thank you as well for recognizing Neil from our concierge team. We will be sure to share your kind words with him. We’re thrilled he was able to help make your Banff experience even more memorable by arranging your private tour with Explore Banff Tours. It means so much to us to hear that your family is already planning a return summer visit. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming all of you back again for another unforgettable stay in Banff!Warm regards,JunalynFront Office Manager

Loved our stay at Royal Canadian Lodge!

    rating30 Mar 2026

We stayed at Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff from March 26–29 with my 7-year-old daughter, and overall we had a great experience.Check-in was simple and straightforward. We arrived in the early evening, and Jason at the front desk was the most approachable and helpful hotel staff member I have ever dealt with. He remembered my daughter’s name, greeted her every day, checked in with us throughout our stay, and added little touches that made the trip feel extra special for both of us.The renovated room itself was fairly standard for a hotel room, but comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, which worked well for us. The bathroom had a shower only, with no bathtub, but that was not an issue. The pillows were big and lumpy, all 8 of the pillows in our room were too high/tall for my daughter to use comfortably. There are robes provided in the room, it would be a nice touch if they could also provide kids size robes. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and kettle with tea provided in the room.We ordered room service one night and tried the pulled pork poutine, which was the daily special from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not very good, and I would not recommend it.The TV included free cable and on-demand programming, as well as pay-per-view movies. I had brought my laptop and an HDMI cord, and we were able to connect it to the TV easily to watch our own movies. Watching on-demand, my daughter discovered The Simpsons and loved it (lol)The pool area was a big highlight for us. The pool is salt water rather than chlorine. The water itself was on the cooler side, but there was also a good-sized hot tub and a large steam room. My daughter quickly made friends with another family staying at the hotel, and the kids spent multiple hours a day in the pool together. The gym was small but functional. In the four days we were there, it was empty every time we walked by.Parking is $20 per day, which does add up. There is also free street parking behind the hotel if you are able to find a spot. One fun feature in the lobby was the robot, which the kids absolutely loved. We were told that after construction is complete, it will be delivering items to guest rooms. During our stay it moved around the lobby, told jokes, and handed out free apples. The hotel was reasonably priced compared with other options in the area. I chose it specifically for the pool setup, knowing we would be spending a lot of time there, and it worked out really well for that. Shops and restaurants on the main street were about a 10-minute walk away, or you could take the bus that stops outside the neighboring hotel for $2 per ride, with kids riding free.I would definitely stay here again in the future. The price, location, rooms, and pool make this a very family-friendly hotel option in Banff.Biggest thank you to Jason at the front desk for the spectacular service we enjoyed. Junalyn Bognot, Guest Services / Front Office at Royal Canadian Lodge, responded to this review Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your recent stay with us at Royal Canadian Lodge. We are absolutely delighted to hear that you and your daughter had such a memorable family getaway in Banff. It’s always rewarding to hear when families create special memories together during their visit. At the same time, we sincerely appreciate your honest and constructive feedback regarding the pillows, dining experience, and suggestion for children’s robes.
