    Needs TLC

    rating21 Jan 2026

The picture on the ad was not the building we were assigned which was a disappointment. Our room was clean with ample shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. However, the shower curtain bar was hanging by one screw at one end, there was a picture with cracked glass hung on the wall and the furniture was visibly very worn. The cable TV, coffee maker and bar fridge worked well. We went to the sauna and hot tub which is in the middle of one of the buildings. The hot tub was very warm and had many guests present. When we went back there were fewer people. The general area is quite small and the general area, including the shower and hot tub needs a good cleaning. The grout is black in several places and there was a strip of mold above the one exterior window. There were lots of towels and shampoo. The price is affordable at just under $100.00. Could use some TLC.

    Lodge? More like Motel…

    rating20 Jun 2025

I really struggled with this review before landing on a 4, though I think it’s a pretty low 4. My friend and I stayed here because we got a discount through the Banff 10K. There were some oddities about this place - some beetles in our room (they changed the sheets and sprayed after we complained), it felt a little dated, and the kitchen was missing paper towels, cooking oil, and seasonings. However, the office was always incredibly responsive when we had a concern or needed something, and it was nice to have access to a kitchen for making our own meals. We also really liked the location - we could walk to all our favorite spots and could easily hit the road to go to Banff whenever we wanted. I was also really happy not to stay in Banff - Canmore felt much more local. If you can get a room here for cheaper than the rest of Banff or Canmore, I’d recommend it! However, I’m not sure it’s on par with some of the nicer looking hotels nearby if it’s the same price point.

    Clean and comfortable

    rating22 May 2025

Loved the location and staff. The room was clean and the beds were confortable. Plenty of hot water and a well stocked kitchen. Washer and dryer available at reasonable rates. Barbecues on site. We had elk outside or our room. Canmore is a very walkable town and much less busy than Banff. We stayed for four nights.

Way overpriced for accommodations that smell like an old cigar ashtray

    rating19 Oct 2024

I would first like to say that the customer service at this hotel was top notch and the room was clean. HOWEVER… we had to move 3 times.1st room had a band coming from the ceiling.2nd room #260, OMG. This room has the smell of an old cigar ashtray. It is embedded in the furniture and carpet. Our jackets carried the Oder when we left the unit. They moved us again for the last night and we ended up with 156.This room was the best of all three but I still boiled a pot of coffee in the room to reduce the smell. We are not travellers that need to stay in 5 star hotels, but I do expect a room for $300 per night to be fresh clean. The price they charge in season does not match what you expect. It is a MOTEL THATSMELLS. IT NEED A COMPLETE FACELEFT. A Complete RIP-OFF

    rating09 Oct 2024

A COMPLETE RIP-OFF! No price list on display when we arrived. Extortionate charges for a one bed queen / no breakfast. As pensioners we were even promised a discount, but I’ve checked my bank statement, and the full price was charged so that was a lie. $420 cad / £229. We could have stayed in a posh London hotel for less, indeed I told the receptionist this. She told us it was high season, and the price dropped when the snow fell , which must be rubbish as it’s a ski lodge and winter will be when they make their money. It feels like they just charge what they like to tourists. Surely a reputable business should have its price list on display. I am even more upset that I could have got the same via the UK if I had pre booked for £75. I will advise my family and friends in the UK and Canada to NEVER use “Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge” . Even the car park was a waterlogged dirt track and as disabled we had to lug suitcases upstairs after they got dirty thru the mud bath car park. So, so ripped off and angry. Jon Dearing, General Manager at Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge, responded to this review I am sorry that you found our rates high in our high summer season. We are competitive with all other properties in the area though. Hotel rates across the board in the Bow Valley are lower during the fall and winter seasons. As rates are fluid and may change more than once daily pricing is not displayed in the lobby. The front desk can provide this to you or the information can be found online. Our hotel does not have an elevator to reach the second story rooms and we do not advertise one.
