    Tunnel Mountain Resort - Wonderful

    rating19 May 2026

Tunnel Mountain Resort is great. Our suite was wonderful, on two levels with a balcony with a tremendous mountain view. The resort is well located to visit sites in the surrounding area. It has free bus service connecting to downtown and from there to other sites. It has a fireplace with free firewood provided. A full kitchen with dishes and cutlery provided. The pool is small but refreshing. The staff is helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again. It is well located and served all our wants and needs.

    Mediocre at best.

    rating29 Mar 2026

Stayed at the Tunnel Mountain Resort in the middle of March, 2026 for three nights. First time here.Check-in was stated to be at 4:00 pm and we showed up at 4:15 pm. Surprisingly we were were told our unit was not ready yet and that we would have to wait - this even though check-in is expressedly stated to be at 4:00 pm. So we piled back into our vehicle and sat and waited in the parking lot for a call that came 20 minutes later. We finally got our room key and were directed to our unit. When we got there we noted that there were rock steps leading down to the door entrance and these were not shoveled, making them treacherous to traverse. In any event we started unloading our things and hauled this stuff down the snow coved stairs to the entrance. Our card key did not work. So there we all were standing in the cold holding all of our things and the door won't open. So we called the front desk nd a few minutes later one of the front desk people came around and told us that we had been moved to another unit. No one told us. So we hauled all of our stuff back up the snow covered stairs, put it all back into our vehicle and the drove over to the new unit. This was now close to 5:00 pm. with a stated check-in at 4:00 pmNot a really great start, but there were other issues:There is a fireplace, but there were no matches or kindling or other way to start the fire. The firewood has to be gather from outside down the lane. Luckily we had our own lighter and had some newspaper and got it going, but found the that the firewood was all too chunky to burn well (sorry forgot my axe) and mostly damp (1/2 of it is just sitting out in the elements). We had a one bedroom unit with 2 beds in the loft. The blankets were wholly inadequate for winter months in Canada. No comforters. The furnace is very loud when you put it on - it would literally wake you from your sleep when it kicked in.We ran out of toilet paper (4 of us) on day 1, as they only gave us one partial roll! We had to ask for more. Also on the first morning, I went to make coffee and the coffee maker would not turn on. Had to ask for another one to replace it. Tried boiling water for tea, but the kettle did not work. The light on the stove hood did not work. We were there for three nights and were given precisely 3 dishwasher tabs. Lock on the bathroom door did not work. Now the place is well situated to go skiing, to get into Banff or go to Canmore. The staff did respond fairly quickly, when we asked for toilet paper and a new coffee perk, but the general attention to detail was sorely missing here. For almost $500/ night expected a bit more.

Great stay, with everything you need.

    rating31 Oct 2025

Excellent stay, with all amenities catered for. There is a swimming pool, which we didn't use, as we were out and about. We had a standard room, which had a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher, lounge/dining area, which had a fire place, and a balcony (sadly no furniture, but we did not ask, so maybe this was available), large bed/sleeping area. The resort is slightly out of town, but you get a free bus pass from the resort, so you can get a hopper bus from outside the resort, straight into town. This is a bonus, as parking in town is limited.Very friendly, helpful staff, who are more than willing to book trips and excursions for you.We will be back, next time for a winter visit.

    Could Use Some Upgrades

    rating19 Aug 2025

We came down to Banff for a wedding and booked a cabin. The cabin itself was clean and spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. The bedroom on the main floor has a queen, and the loft has two double beds with a TV, perfect for the kids. The bathtub in the bathroom was tiny, maybe a foot deep. Makes for an unenjoyable bath. My kids even complained. The communal BBQ was right outside our door, which made it easy for us to cook dinner. Kids went to the pool for maybe 30 minutes one afternoon. I'm surprised the pool was 3-5ft deep, for how small it was. There was water everywhere on the ground in the pool area, looked like it had been sitting all day. I wanted to check out the steam room. You had to work across the street to access it. As soon as I walked out of the change room into the area with the sauna and steam room, it stunk like pee. It was so gross. Looked it things hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The amenities like the pool and 'spa' need a major upgrade. The rate was right for us to book here, but I don't think we will be back. Would either book Hidden Ridge or the Douglas Fir Resot.

Great resort not too far from down

    rating03 Aug 2025

Excellent spacious room with a balcony n beautiful view of tunnel mountain. There was a kitchenette as well which was handy. I had booked a superior suite. It was on level one. Did not use the swimming pool and the Gym. Reception staff were very helpful and lent us the bear spray for our hikes. The surroundings are beautiful with good walks. Saw a baby de Child-friendlyWalkability. town is about a 20 min walk. But we were given free bus passes to town which only took 5 to 10 min
