    Your New Favorite Hotel in Chemainus

    Located close to downtown Chemainus with ocean views from certain rooms, the Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn is hands down one of my favorite hotels. Very friendly staff, great value, and exceptional cleanliness in every corner. I may have heard a neighbouring room once during my three night stay; no excessive noise at all, and no noticeable road noise either. The room is equipped with an ac/heat unit by the windows, which open for fresh air as well. My stay included a generous continental breakfast spread, with toast, baked goods, yogurt parfait machine, fruit juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage/bacon, waffles, and probably more that I'm forgetting! For the price I paid, I felt the value was definitely there. I didn't get a chance to dip in the pool this time or use the gym facilities, but they appeared very well kept and clean.

    I was here for a soccer tournament with my grandson. When I checked in I had a wonderful man check is in. He was so helpful and very friendly. I didn’t know that they offered a continual breakfast he told me what was going to be on the hot breakfast for the weekend. The room was very clean and I even had a little kitchenette in my room. I was very satisfied with the room so was my grandson. He said that he enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub. There was many other people who were there too for the soccer tournament and my grandson made some new friends and he had a school friend who stayed there as well. All in all I really enjoyed my stay there. We were treated very good and I will stay here again. Five stars from us.

    Video tape your check-ins and interactions with staff to protect yourself.It is a great location for a hockey tournament.The room is clean; the mattress sunk in the middle, pillows are hard and thick. The default room temperature was low; would not dry hockey gear. We learned from other team members to raise the temperature high the 2nd day of stay.The breakfast doesn't offer oat meals, otherwise, standard.They have some nice front desk staff and two disrespectful ones.If you are a minority, you may be discriminated openly. If you would like to know what gaslighting experiences, please contact the manager, Rob. He got a A three times for gaslighting.It is not listed on Better Business Bureau!The check-in staff was mean and made unprofessional comments in mean attitudes, which I checked in the the staff worked the next day and was told that was unnecessary and uncalled for. Discrimination agaist visiable minority.repported to Rob, the manager over the phone on 20. He tried to brush it off stating there would not no evidence of this accident. I requested him to go over the vedio recording and talk to the staff invloved and provided the contact info and room number and dates stayed. He said that he'd call back on Feb 23.I gave him more time. no call. I call a few days later, happened to spoke the assistant manager of the front desk, so happened to be one of the staff worked on the day of my check-in. He appeared no aware of the complained I made. I called Rob again the next day. He was gaslighing me and said that he did not call back because he wrote my phone number wrong. With all the information he requested me to provide from the 1st call, he'd access the guest information and get the right phone number. He said this time, it is he says and she says. No approval and nothing he could do. I asked for a refund. He said that he needs approval from the board members. Then, they left a voicemail saying the board members are not willing to do anything about it. He even states the two staff who did the check-ins are the only minorities of the staff in the front desk. What does that mean? DARVO is his approach.He even said that this Inn is not part of the Best Western chain. Lol. It is.Would you like to support these kinds of business?Read the staff's reply below. How considerate. Would you would contact the front desk who were mean for service about anything? Great management skills and understanding. Do we expect a person so good at DARVO admit it?He is right about one thing: there is packaged oatmeal at breakfast. To me though, no the same as a well prepared hot oatmeal.Please vote is rotating mattress = not sunken mattress?Please vote for the spelling of the my name here too. Even though competence is not the main complain here, just want to point it out it goes well with the mistake about the phone number. Or are we seeing the inability to look up my phone number through guest booking is just part of lack of capacity?Ah. I am thinking. Rob G., at Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn, responded to this review Fala A.I'm sorry that, during your stay in February, we failed to meet your expectations.As I mentioned in our conversations, there is no way I can understand how you felt during your Check In experience. What I can understand is what our hotel policies are, and the results of my investigation of the your Check In.When you arrived to Check In and could not produce the physical Credit Card that you wish to use, Hotel Policy which is set in place to protect both cardholder and the hotel, did not permit us to use that card. The Credit Card you did have, did not have enough available credit. While you were transferring funds to increase the available credit, the Manager of your son's hockey team offered to use her card to allow you to check in quickly. That was a satisfactory solution for all involved, and you left the Front Desk, with a smile on your face, approximately 10 minutes after you arrived. There was no evidence of ruffled feathers, or anyone in the lobby indicating that there was anything abnormal happening. Except for the Team Manager's offer of assistance, this is a very normal sort of interaction at our Front Desk. It is not uncommon for there to be issues with Credit Cards, as we are all trying to prevent the wave of fraudulent charges form getting worse and impacting us all. This was not discrimination. This was the even application of hotel policy.During our calls, there was nothing you said that indicated a specific incidents or phrase used that I could identify as prejudicial. Even when I explained that as a white male, I had no background experiencing racial prejudice, and repeatedly asked for clarification as to what exactly made you feel the way you did, you could not give me any specifics. Was the situation embarrassing? Probably, yes. Was the situation inconvenient? Probably, yes. Did the Front Desk Staff treat you differently than any other Hotel Guest? There is no evidence to show that they did, other than your non-specific statement.As for the other items mentioned in your review:Yes, we do have packets of instant oatmeal available in our breakfast buffet.Our mattresses are rotated and replaced on a regular schedule to maintain top comfort. If we had been made aware of the issue with the mattress in your room, we would have been happy to replace it.The default temperature is set at a median temperature to make it easy for guests to increase or decrease it to their preferred level and to save power when the room is not occupied, not to dry hockey equipment. All of our rooms have independent temperature control. Had we known, a quick visit from our maintenance staff or a call to the front desk would have solved this issue quite quickly.Lastly, I do object to your use of the terms "gaslighting" and "DARVO". I did write down your phone number incorrectly after or first phone call and I apologized for that mistake during our second call. I wrote 778 instead of 788. I again apologize for that error. That is not "gaslighting". That's an error. Incidentally, the phone number on your reservation does not come close to matching the phone number you ]gave me during our first call.Cordially,Rob G.General Manager
