    Not Worth the Stay

    Very disappointed, this hotel has noise everywhere , the teams in hallways, doors slamming. Kids above room jumping . What a sad breakfast, very little to choose from, sugar cereal, super unhealthy. Sad fruit. To top it off it’s overpriced and don’t park near the tree outback, I got sap all over my car. Then they turned off the water.     They overcharged me one night. The mattress was the worst I had ever had in my life. My back is out because of it. There were silverfish in the bathroom.     Overpriced for the service received. Continental breakfast was not great, roofing crew started working at 8am on Saturday morning. Our room was not cleaned and our keys stopped working after first night. Prema Boppudi, Other at Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn, responded to this review Hi,I’m really sorry to hear about your experience. That definitely doesn’t sound like the stay you were expecting — or the one we aim to provide. Waking up to construction noise on a Saturday, dealing with room and key issues, and being let down by breakfast is understandably frustrating.     Clean, updated and friendly staff - but over-priced.

    Clean, updated and friendly staff. Over-priced for what you get but not a lot of choice in the area. The check in was great and Vijay was very helpful. The room was clean, bed a little soft for my preference but the travelling partner liked it. Strangest sink in the bathroom - not sure who designed that but they must have been 6'8" - really inconvenient it is so tall. The area is a bit sketchy. Homeless people laying on the lawn beside the pool which is located across the parking lot outside. Garbage and bottles left on the ground. I would not be overly comfortable with children using the pool. The homeless were all camped out in what looks like an abandoned motor home along the street by the pool. They did not cause any problem but we gave a wide berth on our evening walk. If travelling by myself I would not feel comfortable walking alone. Our room was facing the highway which was extremely noisy so I would request the other side if you are going to book here. Parking was a problem when we returned from dinner with the restaurant very busy. We could not find a spot and had to move some traffic cones to be able to park. not sure if that is why those spots were blocked but it was no problem with the front desk. I would maybe stay again if I needed to be in the area - but just be aware of a few things if you are booking here.

    Great choice in Duncan

    Recently stayed at the Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn and I will definitely only stay there if I find myself needing to stay in Duncan again. Very nicely updated, front desk staff were always nice, rooms was very clean, and very quiet. I know there was some sports teams in town as there was a basketball tournament so I'm not sure if there was any of them staying there but if so you wouldn't have known. I did not eat at the bar/restaurant downstairs but it seemed pretty busy whenever I went through the lobby. Actually it was the only loud thing about the place.
