Poor Communication, Dismissive Service, Undisclosed Construction

    rating24 May 2026

I chose this hotel for its downtown location and paid for concierge lounge access specifically to have a functional workspace during my stay. Unfortunately, the experience was defined by misinformation, unprofessional staff interactions, and significant undisclosed issues.Check-In: Misinformation and Privacy LapsesWe were incorrectly told our vehicle wouldn't fit in the underground parkade and would need to park across the street for the same price. A bellman later confirmed it would fit—and it did. During check-in, the front desk agent announced my room number aloud in a busy lobby, a basic breach of guest privacy and safety standards.Concierge Lounge: Not What Was AdvertisedI paid a premium for lounge access expecting a workspace available throughout the day, as is standard at most hotels. Instead, it operates strictly as a meal service area with restrictive hours. Breakfast offerings were minimal (toast and granola bars), and the lounge is not designed or intended for working. This was never communicated prior to booking or at check-in.Business Centre: Closed Without NoticeThe business centre was closed for renovations—also undisclosed. When I asked staff for clarification, I was told there was "engineering equipment" inside. When I checked myself, it was an empty hotel room. Staff gave me three conflicting sets of lounge hours and responded to my questions with laughter rather than assistance.Undisclosed Construction NoiseThere was active construction directly above my room throughout the day. This was never mentioned at check-in. I spent my entire workday on virtual meetings apologizing for background noise, unable to work effectively from the room or access any alternative on-site workspace.Room ConditionThe room was spacious but the carpet was visibly stained and had not been vacuumed.Parking Ticket After Following Valet InstructionsWe received a parking ticket while parked in the parkade exactly as instructed by valet staff.Management ResponseI escalated to the General Manager, who offered a complimentary room night and suite upgrade. However, since my employer was covering the stay, this didn't address my personal inconvenience. When I requested reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs (breakfast and a co-working space rental necessitated by the lack of functional workspace), I was told the hotel could not accommodate that request.Bottom LineIf you're booking for leisure and don't need workspace amenities, this may be fine. If you're traveling for business, expecting transparency, or relying on advertised amenities, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The lack of communication, dismissive staff, and failure to deliver on paid upgrades made for a deeply frustrating experience.

    I’ll be back

    rating22 May 2026

I was always curious what this hotel was like after driving past it on past trips. I stayed on the concierge floor and felt it was well worth it with my two free drinks in the evening and then the free breakfast in the morning.- though, the breakfast was nothing special compared to most hotels. My room was smaller, but the bed was comfortable, and the view from the concierge lounge was gorgeous. The TV was large in the bathroom was brand new. The staff were amazing in all areas of the hotel. The location is good and I would stay here again. The only thing I would change is having two or three seats in the lounge where a person could put a laptop and do some work.

great place, stay on Concierge floors nicer, with view, understand parking, elevators all will be well, try restauratn

    rating04 Dec 2025

this was a really nice hotel and good expeience. we were in the city for a medical issue and 65th birthday. both rooms we rented were excellant and had nice views we had the king bed suite with a comfortable fold out, large fridge and decent mattress and pillows. Sleep quality was good and we booked on the higher floors with riverview and city view for one both views great minus the appartment tour next door at 7 am blowing snow in the parkade. the rooms are on the chilly side and the thermostat is off in the room when you enter be sure to turn it on. Also you have Concerige lounge prividlege with the higher floors with 2 glasses of wine or beer and lovely appetizers. fried pickles or cauliflour, imported cheese and cold cuts and pita with hummas another night hit the spot before our lovely restaurant up stairs in the revoloving one highly recommend but remember you cant use the elevetor to the 24th floor until right at 530 as it wont go and you will just go up and down steady till 530 when the elevator works to the 24 floor. there is a CAA rate here with pleasant staff, early check in allowed, lovely extended lobby area and nice lounge for drinks. There is continental breakfast as well in conccierge lounge with banana bread and lemon loaf, waffles and toast, fruit and yogurt. Very nice touch. Parking is extra and its confusing get to the lobby and then finding the vehicle after you have to press 12/13 for the parkade. you cant access rooms from parkade elevator you have to go to lobby. I would comment front desk should probably tell you this stuff when you check in about the elevators otherwise no complaints here at all

    Substandard cleanliness

    rating21 Sept 2025

I stayed at the Chateau Lacombe for a two-day conference in Edmonton, mostly due to the proximity of the hotel to the conference location.Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bathroom was terrible with pink slime around the tub drain, grime on the toilet and sick taps, and what looked to be toothpaste spray on two of the walls. It caused me concern that the rest of the room hasn't been thoroughly cleaned.I won't stay here again.

    Faded but fantastic staff

    rating08 Sept 2025

Yes it’s a little tired but the excellent staff are a treat. We stayed in a “refurbished” concierge room, although we don’t know when it was refurbished. The room was big and clean with a good bathroom and the bed was exceptional. The hotel once had a vision of grandeur but that has faded. However, the price was under £800 for 8 days stay which was a great price. I would stay again but only if we got the same deal.
