    1-Star Review - Absolute Rip-Off on PricingI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Edmonton and was completely shocked by their dishonest billing practices. When I checked in, I signed the paperwork clearly showing a rate of $108 for the night. Everything seemed straightforward, and I trusted the hotel to honor what was on the document.Fast forward to the final bill — they charged me $259! That's more than double what I agreed to. When I questioned it at checkout, their explanation was vague and unhelpful. No clear breakdown, no apology, just a shrug and "that's what it came to."This is straight-up deceptive. I chose this hotel because of the decent location downtown and expected a standard, reliable IHG property. Instead, I feel scammed. The room itself was average at best — nothing special for the price they decided to charge.Do NOT stay here if you value transparency and fair pricing. They’ll lure you in with a low rate and then hit you with surprise charges at the end. I’ll be disputing this with my credit card and definitely won’t be back. Terrible experience.Avoid this place.

    We booked this place because of its location near Rogers Place and the price. The staff was welcoming. The room was clean. We had taken the parking option, which was also fine. Breakfast was good, with warm cinnamon buns. The first day the eggs were cold (the warmer was off), but we reported it, and the second day everything was fine. We really appreciated the location; it was very easy to walk to the hockey game. It's also very close to downtown and the funicular.

    Chris McArthur, who claimed that he is the highest in position next to the owner of this franchise hotel is dishonest, bully, triggered guest until the guest freak out, very resistant, not listening to guest, rude, very inconsistent and who put his position on his head but not in his heart to provide truthful and sincere customer service. This Chris set up, framed, orchestrated and took a fraud video with trashed room which he blamed and falsely accused my 2 sons of doing it, who stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The video he sent was different from the photos taken by my sons inside their room. The video he sent with garbages scattered all over the floor in the room was not acceptable and can not be done by human in their proper mind but an animal doings. I told him that my sons are not pigs, he said yes. This insult is never right and unacceptable! I never raised my sons with this kind of attitude and behaviour. My sons swear to God and to the law that they did not do it. I swear to God and to the law that my sons can not do it and can never do it. I asked for the stamped date and the time of the video that he sent me thru text but he said who am I to demand it. He never sent me the actual date and time of the video. We need the real and not edited date and time of the video to prove who scattered the garbages in the room. In the video, the one who took it was a guy wearing leather shoes. I challenged him to do research about my sons attitude and behaviour, to ask everyone here in our small community in BC including their schools, church and all organizations here even our district office here to prove that my sons can not do it but all what he answered to me was “ I have video, I have video, I have video”. Yes Chris, you have video but your video was fraud, it is a video of a trashed room without my sons in it. Who did it? Only God knows, if you believe in God. Whoever did it, may he or she will suffer from guilt and conscience and can not live with peace of mind. May bad luck follow whoever did this fraud all through his/her life time. As for my family and I, lies are sin and we are scared to sin. This hotel charged us extra $105 for extra cleaning of the rooms which my sons did not do. This manager ripped us off with this extra cleaning charge. I have read from reviews of this hotel on their website, google reviews and trip advisor that this hotel is overcharging it’s guests. This money is not important to me anymore but what I am concerned about in this false accusation is the integrity and reputation of my sons being ruined by this manager. This false accusation and fraud video is giving us so much mental distress. This Chris is very dishonest. He said that he was the one who personally inspected the room of my sons during their check out on March 5, but this statement had conflict on his email to me dated March 8 at 6:19pm saying he was not at his office and will be back tomorrow, which was March 9 to investigate it and he told me he will call me as soon as he gathered information but I never received a call until I called the hotel on March 11 to follow up. So how did it happen that you were the one who inspected the room but in your email you were not it your office that day and will be back March 9? Can you please correct your wrong doings and be honest?! Liars go to hell! God sees. God knows. If you don’t believe in God, may Karma hit you thousandfold! May bad luck follow you wherever you go! You left my 2 sons (young adult who was there to take his license exam at Pearson Edmonton and is going to be a Doctor and his brother who is a teenager) with nightmares and terrible experience. It’s totally a mental distress to them, to us their family. This was their first time to travel without us their parents, and instead of leaving them good memories about this trip but you left them with bad memories and to not trust people anymore. It was the very first time happened to us with Holiday Inn Express (different locations) since 2013 and for 13 years being a member of IHG. This worst and untruthful experience is not acceptable to us. Holiday Inn Express is always our favourite and I never thought that we had to experience this worst experience in this one location with this kind of manager. This manager told me that we can not escalate this issue as he is the highest in position in that location.This Chris even laughed and said “really” when I told him that my older son who stayed their to take his license test at Pearson is going to be a Doctor soon, which I think relevant to this issue so that he can figure out the attitude of my sons but he even insulted me. May the OWNER and the corporate office of the Holiday Inn Express and the IHG will investigate this incident and provide us with justice and rightful resolution.     Best hotel ever. Balcony has a full view of downtown. Only small disappointment is the bed size but thats the room we chose. Definitely a must stay!!!

    Dear IHG Customer Care,I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express downtown edmonton. The experience fell far short of the standards I have come to expect from an IHG hotel.Upon arrival, I was met with unprofessional and unhelpful service. The staff seemed disinterested in assisting guests, and even basic requests took an inordinate amount of time to be addressed. The overall attitude and lack of hospitality made the entire stay unpleasant.Furthermore, the room and amenities did not align with the price I paid. The cleanliness, comfort, and quality of the facilities were subpar compared to what I expect from an IHG property. Considering the high rate, I felt completely overcharged for what I received.I chose Holiday Inn Express because of my trust in the IHG brand for reliable service and quality accommodations.
