    Convenient location, noisy at night

    rating19 Apr 2026

We were in Edmonton (first time visitors) for the weekend for a climbing competition, and Mettera was conveniently close to the event. The hotel itself looks nice when you walk into the lobby, and room was clean and carpeting looked quite new. The furniture was a little dinged up and shabby and the bathroom was clean but needed updating. The room did feel quite warm, even though we turned off the thermostat as recommended. On the one hand, it was a great location in that there's a lot of stuff on Whyte so plenty of places to eat, and close to the Old Strathcona Market which was nice for a visit, but as many other reviews have said it is very loud and we were there on a weekend. I did ask for a room facing away from the street and the hotel did accommodate that request, but it's unavoidable that it's noisy though the earplugs helped. The staff were nice and the breakfast was fine, but if you need somewhere quiet at night this is not the place for you. April Kanash, Owner at Metterra Hotel on Whyte, responded to this review Thank you so much for the review and feedback. We truly appreciate you taking the time to respond and your comments will be shared with the appropriate members of our Management team.

Another good stay at the Metterra

    rating23 Mar 2026

Stayed here in February for 4 days over the weekend. We booked a Deluxe Room with King Bed and ended up on the 6th floor. The room was nice, clean and comfortable, but the heating wasn’t optimal, i.e. when the blower was on, the room was very quickly way too warm, and then getting chilly quickly when we felt we needed to turn it off as the heat was unbearable. Having breakfast included in the rate was very convenient, and breakfast was fresh. I found they didn’t have as many options as they had during my last visit in the Summer, but it was still very good. The breakfast room was chilly from the large windows. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. All in all we had a very good stay here and would highly recommend this property to others.

A nice hotel in a trendy, vibrant location, with Soundproofing issues during the Weekends

    rating12 Jan 2026

Metterra Hotel on Whyte is a nice hotel in a trendy, vibrant location. We appreciated the included breakfast and valet parking. The breakfast was quite good—fresh coffee, fruit salad, a few baked goods, toast, bagels, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausages, and oatmeal. The breakfast room was pleasant and comfortable. Our only complaint was the croissants, which were so stale they were basically croutons. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, and the room was adequately clean, though a few details could have used more attention (e.g., the wall around the light switches and the bedside charging block). Our biggest issue was the noise at night. We weren’t aware that on weekends, Whyte Avenue turns into what feels like a racetrack. Modified Japanese cars, muscle cars, and trucks rev their engines while stopped at the nearby traffic lights. This “Cruise Culture” seems to be a regular weekend event, with drivers looping the avenue to show off their vehicles. Unfortunately, the hotel’s windows aren’t well soundproofed, and even with earplugs and a pillow over my head, it felt like we were right next to the action.Overall, I’d recommend this hotel for a weekday stay.If you’re a light sleeper planning a weekend visit, consider requesting a room facing away from Whyte Avenue—or staying elsewhere. April Kanash, Owner at Metterra Hotel on Whyte, responded to this review Thank you Sandice for the detailed review and feedback. I have shared you comments with the appropriate members of our Management team. So sorry to hear about the noise you encountered, we hope you would consider staying with us again in a room towards the back of the building . We appreciate you taking the time to respond and we truly hope to see you again!
