Location

The hotel is located minutes from the West Edmonton Mall and around 15 minutes from Downtown Edmonton. The light industrial and commercial businesses of the area are within close proximity. Ground transportation is available to and from the Edmonton International Airport, which is about 40 km away.

Facility

236 non-smoking rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     Disappointing Stay After Great Past Experiences

    I booked a 3-night stay for my family at Royal Hotel West, which has always been our go to place because of our great previous experiences. Unfortunately, this recent stay was quite disappointing. I requested a top floor room to avoid footstep noise. However, we were assigned a room right next to the elevator without being asked if that was okay. Our first night turned into a nightmare. There was nonstop noise between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The ice maker kept refilling, people were coming from the bar and loudly gathering near the elevator—talking, shouting, and running in the hallway. To make things worse, the air conditioning in our room was so loud it sounded like an airplane taking off. The next morning, I requested to move to another room. Emma and Mina from the front desk were very understanding and handled our request graciously. Unfortunately, the new room also had issues as there was a lot of hair on the bed, and the sheets were obviously crinkled, suggesting they hadn’t been changed. When I brought this up to the supervisor, she said it was from the laundry and didn’t offer to replace the bedding, which was disappointing. After that, the rest of our stay was peaceful, and we were finally able to rest well. On a positive note, the breakfast staff were fantastic, very polite, attentive, and the breakfast itself was delicious. The dining area’s ambiance was also wonderful, which helped end our stay on a better note.Overall, while we’ve loved Royal Hotel West in the past, this experience fell short of expectations. I hope the management addresses these issues so guests can once again enjoy the level of comfort the hotel is known for.     Best West end hotel. Clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast is great. Easy check in and check out. Quiet at night.     Clean, very nice lounge for breakfast, only thing that we have problems are the noise above our, I hope they will accommodate family with kids in the main floor.     Okay hotel, great staff

    The good: The staff were all great - really welcoming and friendly. Location is good if you want to be near the mall. Beds and cleanliness were good. The okay: Breakfast was okay. The food was fine if a little cold and dry but that's a buffet for you. The bad: No fan in the bathroom. The walls are very thin - you could hear people going in and out of nearby rooms late at night. The hallways are kind of dungeon-like and the lobby decor is weird. Also no microwave or kettles in the room we were in (and no kettles available at the desk). All in all, it was an okay stay. The staff were the best thing about the hotel.     On-line reservation did not relate to what I needed to reserve. We had to change one of rooms because of a stain and then the next one the fridge was frozen which they replaced.The breakfast was delicious.They need to have a designated smoking area.
