  I had to travel from NL to AB and booked a number of nights to stay at the ShPk Super8. Various family and travel issues arose and I dealt with Stacy by phone a number of times to continually modify my stay. My praise and thanks to Stacy for her kindness and understanding and professionalism, and for being an excellent ambassador for this establishment.   WARNING – Credit Card Overcharges and Refund RefusalsThis location repeatedly overcharged my credit card and refused to correct the issue, even when approached politely.For clarity:Hotels typically place a temporary authorization deposit (in this case, $150). When you check out, that authorization should be released within minutes.If a hotel tells you it will take days to get your funds back, it usually means they charged the card and then processed a refund, which unnecessarily delays access to your money.That is exactly what happened here.Despite clear explanations, staff refused to acknowledge or fix the situation. This reflects either a serious lack of training or intentional mishandling of payments.Additionally, one night of my stay was paid in cash ($118.81) — I have the receipt clearly stating PAID CASH. Despite this, the hotel still charged my credit card both the $150 deposit and the $118.81 room charge.When I raised this issue, the individual identifying herself as the manager (“Trish”) was dismissive, unprofessional, and showed no concern for resolving the problem.As a result, the hotel held a total of $418.80 on my credit card ($150 + $150 + $118.80) pending refunds. This directly caused further issues, including refusal to check me in for a prepaid reservation booked through Super.com, because available credit had been tied up by their improper charges.I strongly advise anyone staying here to carefully review all credit card transactions related to this location. You may be surprised by what you find.Based on my experience, I do not recommend staying at this hotel. Our records show, however, the credit card used for this reservation was declined when the female guest staying in the room tried to check back into the hotel using yet another brand-new reservation as was the case during the two previous nights stays. You are absolutely correct that a pre-authorization is released the moment the room is checked out and that should be reflected on your online records provided by the credit card issuant bank.

  We recently stayed at the Super 8 Sherwood Park as part of a sports team group. The hotel is ideally located. Easy access, right in the heart of Sherwood Park and close to all rec centres. The hotel has a McDonalds, liquor store. Convenience stores and many other amenities all within walking distance. The hotel itself is what you would expect from a Super 8. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The hotel is well set up for groups and they weee very accommodating with a very spacious team meeting room with sink and other amenities. The front desk team was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was hot and certainly satisfactory although the room a bit small. Unfortunately there was some inconsistencies with room cleanliness and maintenance. Although I did not experience it with our room, some of our group did and had to request change of room or repair work be completed. This was obviously not ideal. I hope that hotel can rectify these concerns as it does have potential to be a great spot for teams to stay.
