    Low Standards Across the Board

    rating28 Feb 2026

I genuinely don't get how this place has ratings above 2 stars. Even in my super short stay there the issues were glaring right away. The building's pretty new but it already feels totally neglected. The hallways had dirty, stained carpets that looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned in ages, plus some cheap, eye-catching patches on the wallpaper and plaster where they'd clearly done quick 'repairs' that stood out like sore thumbs. My key card kept failing on the door lock - I had to drag myself back to the front desk at least three times so they could reprogram the thing. My king room was stripped to the bone: no microwave, no kettle, no coffee maker, not even glasses or free bottled water (you have to buy a tiny one downstairs for $2.50). There's basically no proper closet or drawers, so you're just living out of your suitcase the whole time.Bathroom toiletries? Super cheap bulk stuff with that overpowering fake "discount store" smell - felt like the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel quality.Breakfast was honestly sketchy. I saw them just topping up the hot cereal instead of making it fresh, sausages and omelets looked like they'd been reheated (not in a good way) and the boiled eggs were slimy and didn't seem fresh at all. Visually disgusting part was oranges sitting out on the counter that were straight-up moldy or rotten. Everything - plates, cups, utensils - was single-use disposable junk, which just screamed low-budget.The indoor pool was closed the whole time I was there. A ton of families with kids pick this hotel specifically for the pool, but there was zero heads-up on the website or at booking, and I didn't see any actual work happening while it was shut.On top of that, I overheard a front desk staff member yelling at guests about their pet or something and literally saying “Your wife is a liar.” It was unprofessional and awkward. Overall, the staff seemed undertrained - not just in handling conflicts, but in basic guest interaction.Even a quick stay made all these red flags obvious. I wouldn't recommend this spot at all. There are way better options nearby that give you more for the same money (or less). Save yourself the headache.

INFESTATION WARNING: Bed Bugs & Total Management Indifference

    rating14 Jan 2026

We stayed here recently and discovered a bed bug infestation in our room. I have clear photo evidence of the bugs and the bites we sustained. While finding a pest in a hotel is a nightmare, the way management handled it was even worse. When we informed the front desk, their only solution was to move us to another room. They refused our simple request for dry cleaning/heat treatment for our clothing and luggage, even though those items were now likely infested. The response? "The manager isn't in today, so there's nothing we can do."It got worse when we called Hilton Corporate. A supervisor named Malik was incredibly rude, essentially telling us that because he doesn't stay in hotels, he "doesn't care" about the situation. No apology, no immediate help, and zero accountability for a major health code violation. For those who don't know, bed bugs are "hitchhikers." They crawl into the seams of your suitcases and the folds of your clothes. If you take even one female bug or a few eggs home, you are looking at:-Thousands of dollars in professional extermination costs.-The potential need to throw away your mattress, couch, and clothing.-Months of emotional trauma, insomnia, and being bitten in your own sleep.By refusing to help us decontaminate our gear, this hotel is essentially okay with us bringing an infestation back to our home. They treated a high-risk health hazard like a minor "inconvenience."Avoid this hotel at all costs. There is no "Hilton Standard" here—just a dirty room and a management team that will leave you stranded once they have your money.

    BAD EXPERIENCE

    rating30 Aug 2025

⚠️ BE AWARE ⚠️ BE AWARE ⚠️ BE AWARE ⚠️ BE AWARE ⚠️ BE AWAREI booked this hotel ( tru by hilton edmonton windermere Edmonton ) based on the reviews, but my experience was completely different. The moment I walked into the room, it smelled like the windows had never been opened. The shower was disgusting with yellow buildup around it, and the walls looked very dirty. The hallway was also dirty, likely from animals, and the overall feeling was more like an animal hotel rather than one meant for people. The room itself was extremely small, especially for the price charged. I ended up leaving within 10 minutes and moving to another hotel, even though my booking was non-refundable. I didn’t even fight to get my money back, because at some point they have to make money somehow. That said, the facility and service did not justify the price, and the front desk was not helpful at all.A few positive notes: the reception area looked very nice, which initially made me think I would have a good stay. Unfortunately, that changed as soon as I walked to my room. The empty parking lot during a long weekend should have been my warning sign.⚠️ Be aware: cleanliness seems to “vary” depending on who is reviewing, but in my case it was unacceptable. Definitely not recommended, especially if you have kids

    Decent Hotel in SW Edmonton

    rating22 Jul 2025

We had a good stay at Tru by Hilton Edmonton! The check‑in was efficient and welcoming, with staff who made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, refreshed, and thoughtfully designed—no carpet, easy-to-use lighting, enough power outlet, and a mini fridge. It felt functional and comfortable even for a short trip.

    TRU-ly Disappointing

    rating08 Jul 2025

Just not a great stay for a few reasons. 1. General cleanliness: Nothing says “potentially unclean” to me quite like smudges/smears on bathroom doors and light switches. These are high-touch areas and when they’re overlooked, particularly in a bathroom, it immediately leads me to wonder what else was overlooked or simply ignored. Off to a negative start.2. The beds: The beds in our two-queen room were definitely not queen sized, but were doubles. Fine, I can live with that; however, I cannot handle beds that sink toward the middle. It made for a rather uncomfortable night of sleeping on a slanted angle. Linens, although the sheets were synthetic fibre, appeared clean and smelled fresh, so points there. 3. The worst for last: the climate control. I like white noise, but this was UNBEARABLY loud. I would have simply turned the AC off, and I did try this, but the cheap, synthetic-fibre linens were so hot that sleeping without air was incredibly uncomfortable, especially on a hot July night. Not to mention that, at the price point of hotels, basic climate control shouldn’t be a luxury. Anyway, I live near an airforce base, so when I say the air conditioner kicking on sounded like a fighter jet flying by… well, let’s just say no one got any sleep.
