    It stunk…literally

    The hallway smelleda bit off and our room absolutely stunk. It smelled like a dozen wet dogs had been previous guests (and it wasn’t a pet friendly room). Opened windows choosing traffic noise as the lesser evil. Sheets were pilled, which means they were terribly worn. Top bed pillow was stinky, but one underneath was OK. Our room was dingy with uncomfortable beds. Waaaay overpriced. Trip Advisor suggested prices beginning at $131; we paid $318.77. This is the first bad review I have ever written on Trip Advisor, but no unsuspecting visitor deserves this.     Bad rooms with renovations on top

    As I checked in I noticed the hotel was under renovation. I was not informed the renovation was going on when I reserved my room. I was given a room that I had to get to by weaving and ducking around painters. There was even fresh paint on the frame of the door to the room. I went in and the toilet was running. After attempting to fix myself, I called the front desk. They came up and asked if I could live with it. I could not so I was given a new room on the same floor. Again, had to run the gauntlet of painters to get to my room. The HVAC unit in this room did not work. It was 75 degrees and stank of paint. The front desk said they would look at it when I came back from dinner it was not fixed. When I told this all to the manager the next day she blamed the front desk people. No ownership of the issues management caused. Many people have bad reactions to paint smells, no consideration was given. Additionally, the towels were stained, the shower head wasn’t installed properly and I had to tighten, and there were holes in the wall where something was ripped off. Generally a bad experience and a horrible brand.     Great stay high value place

    This quality inn is part of the local Amsterdam inn group of hotels. Impeccably clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast area is smaller than some but the food is great. No pool but that is not a need for us. Front desk was exceptionally friendly. I would come back.     This is based on my experience. The hotel was good and close to businesses accessible by walking.The breakfast had variety. I was there for business.My issue was the room that I got and the front desk said there was no room to change to. I had asked for a quiet room and I was on the side of highway and for me it was noisy all night plus people letting the door slam at different times over night and it was a Monday night.     Nice clean hotel. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Room was clean and all was in order for our 2-night stay. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of breakfast items. Hotel is close to quite a few eateries and a shopping mall. Would stay again if in the area.
