Location

The hotel is located at the heart of Halifax. Restaurants and bars are located in the vicinity and it is a good location from which to discover many sights. These include Halifax harbour, the historic Citadel on the hill, the Nova Scotia Casino, the Halifax Wharf, Peggy's Bay and the Atlantic Film Festival. Furthermore Halifax is the crossing point to Prince Edward Island and Atlantic Canada.

Facility

3 suites, 94 single rooms and 138 double rooms are located on 14 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. Parking facilities available to guests include a garage and a car park. Further services include medical assistance, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. Bicycles can be kept in the bicycle storage area. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Air conditioning, individually adjustable heating and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. There is also a safe and a desk or, for an additional fee, a minibar. Additional features include a refrigerator and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a plug adapter, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

The freshwater pool complex features heated pools, an indoor area and a children's pool. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. The hot tub in the pool area promises pure relaxation. There are many ways to relax or stay active at the hotel, including a gym, a sauna, a steam bath and a solarium.

Meals

Dining facilities include a dining room, a café and a bar. A non-smoking restaurant with air conditioning, high chairs and a separate area for smokers is available to guests. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    Avoid floor 2 - noisy and feels like you are in a basement

    I am not one to leave a bad review for hotels, however this time I really want to ensure future costumers have the information that I did not have when I booked this hotel. We stayed two nights for a kids dance competition (it was the host hotel of said competition). Overall our stay room was comfortable and clean, however we don’t expect we will be back unfortunately.The issues rather two piled up over the two nights we were there. When I relayed the concerns to the front desk upon check out I felt quite dismissed. The weekend front desk staff were incredible however the manager I encountered at checkout was quite defensive and making excuses rather than wanting to hear concerns and suggestions for future customer communication. They did end up comping parking and a small amount off one night which was appreciated, however we left knowing it is not a hotel we will be booking again. Some of the concerns:- I called at 1:30 to check on the status of the room, I was told it would be ready for check in at 3. We arrived for 3:00 but the room was not available until 4:20. We needed the room to get ready for a dance competition (which the hotel was the host hotel) so fortunately we knew someone else going to the same event so they let us use their room to get ready. -We inquired into a lower floor so that we could use the stairs with ease and we were placed on floor 2. Which would be great however we were not advised that floor 2 is is significantly different than the higher floors which we were paying for. Floor 2 definitely has a basement feel, with smaller windows, ceramic floor in the hallways due to the pool being on that level, and conference rooms (in use) across the hall from the rooms. Room 213 has significant noise from the event space below it - it was a Saturday night so the music at the event kept us up until it was over at midnight. Had we been warned of any of these facts we would have not chosen this floor, especially when later learning we were paying for a gold level floor (the higher floors).- The smell of cannabis was the first thing we were met with when we arrived in the lobby, and it persisted throughout our stay, especially in the stairwell and at the front doors. We could smell it coming into our room one evening, as 213 is directly above the front door. I understand that it is hard to monitor guests at all times but better enforcement of smoking areas would avoid this, especially when you are the host hotel for a kids event. It was unnecessary, even the children were commenting on the smell throughout the stay. --When we mentioned that there was a very loud humming/machinery noise coming from the pool area or down the hall at 11pm (maybe the pool getting cleaned?) I was told by the manager it was likely the construction across the road (no - we are aware which way the sound was coming from - and it was 11:30 pm.) Just overall dismissive of concerns and many suggestions that we were wrong about having the concerns. We appreciate your feedback regarding communication around this, as clearer expectations can help guests make the best choice for their stay.We also sincerely apologize for the concerns related to noise and the odor of cannabis in public areas. While we do have non-smoking policies in place, we recognize the importance of maintaining a welcoming environment for all guests, particularly during family-oriented events.We regret learning of these concerns only at checkout, as our team would have welcomed the opportunity to address them during your stay. Had we been made aware earlier, we would have gladly explored options such as relocating you to a different room in an effort to improve your experience.Lastly, we are sorry to hear that you left feeling your concerns were not fully acknowledged at checkout.
