Awesome downtown Halifax hotel Newly renovated/Perfect for location for walking around downtown Halifax!

    rating25 Apr 2026

Second time at this hotel! Actually we booked it this time by accident as we were going to try a different hotel while in downtown Halifax! However, the pictures of the hotel with the newer looking rooms, we did not realize it was the same hotel until we pulled up to the hotel! LOL. Great updates at this hotel the rooms are clean, new upgrades with the flooring, washroom, beds are SUPER comfortable. We were disappointed at first that we had booked the same place for a experience, however were pleasantly surprised and impressed when we saw our room! This hotel is a perfect location for downtown Halifax. Close to all the downtown spots for walking to great restaurants, the waterfront, stores etc. There is the mall you can walk through during the day and evening (not sure what time doors close after hours.) Brings you out onto the side street that is great location to get to many places. The staff were friendly at the hotel. Each time we walked by them at the front desk they would say good morning and greeted us! Great value for this hotel! Loved the reno's, you did so great!

Did not let us know the hotel was under construction, restaurant out of service, no pool or fitness center. Put us in a room facing a brick wall. Terrible experience. Michael B, at Hotel Halifax, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback and I want to apologize for not meeting your expectations. We both have adjusted prices during our renovation and have publicly posted information about unavailable amenities. It looks like your reservation was made through Expedia, where I've double checked this info is displayed and followed up with an message immediately after booking, on the same day you arrived, so perhaps the information wasn't seen. That said, I can appreciate how coming unaware would detract from your experience, and I want to apologize for this. Our amenities should open soon and should you travel to downtown Halifax in the future, I hope you consider our property.Sincerely,Michael BogardusSenior Operations Manager

    Hotel under renovation

    rating21 Oct 2025

After a long flight we were wondering what to do first, discussing maybe the restaurant, or the bar or should we go to the pool first. However on arrival we were told all of these were closed due to renovations underway. To be fair to the workmen they didn’t start work until 8am but the noise started then and was unbearable in our room so avoided the hotel in the daytime. Our room had been renovated and although ok ie we slept well, shower and tv worked there were a few missing bits like no towel rail and a bedside cabinet on one side of the bed but not on the other.Staff were welcoming and felt for them having to deal with the renovation.I do understand how business pressures and cash flow needs could result in the decision to let guests stay there as soon as some rooms are ready but obviously from our point of view we were excited to visit Halifax and the hotel was a disappointment to us.When the hotel is finished it is in a good location, easy to walk to the waterfront and hopefully it will be a good hotel to stay in for guests in the future. Michael Bogardus, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Halifax, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your visit. I want to apologize for the frustration and am reviewing while both pre and post booking information about hotel activity wasn't available to you. As we are completing renovations of amenities and some areas have finishing work, there is on-going activity for service months, but we are taking efforts to ensure the state of the property is transparent before and after making a reservation.Thank you for sharing your feedback, and should you return to Halifax in the future, I welcome you to contact me directly so I can personally ensure a follow up visit exceeds expectations.Thank you,Michael BogardusSenior Operations Manager

Hotel Halifax. Shame on you !!

    rating18 Sept 2025

Absolutely the worst. We were told they had just reopened after renovations and there would be some minor Reno’s ongoing. Should not even be open Michael Bogardus, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Halifax, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback and I want to apologize for any inconvenience experienced during your visit. While we are still finishing renovation work, the guest rooms sold are fully completed and any work happening in their vicinity should not impact your stay. We appreciate your comments and will try to better communicate what work is on-going while we finish this project. Thank you again and I hope you consider our hotel should future travel bring you to Halifax.

    VERY LOUD

    rating17 Sept 2025

We knew the hotel was being renovated but we did not anticipate jack hammer’s all day. No bars or hooks for wet towels to hang.Room is clean & newly decorated Michael Bogardus, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Halifax, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent stay. I am glad the communication around renovation activities was received and we are pricing our property lower to account for this work, but I want to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and I've followed up regarding any concrete work. While the vast majority of that concrete work is completed, there is a fire escape near the rooms available that is currently being completed and what you experienced was beyond what was initially communicated to us. We've actually suppressed rooms in this area longer than expected due to concrete work and only reopened them when we were informed of potential for intermittent, low volume noise 8-4, Monday to Friday, but that clearly wasn't the case. I am also following up on the missing towel hooks to get that immediately rectified.Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you consider our property in the future.Sincerely,Michael BogardusSenior Operations Manager
