Over the course of a 12 day vacation, Palliser was the stand out in our hotel experience. My 16 yo son and I stayed in the 2- bedroom suite with hot tub. The resort is up a canyon, away from 'downtown' Golden (it's a charming town), and every single time we drove up to our hotel in the evening, we saw black bear in the canyon. So fun! We saw 6 bears near the hotel and zero in Yoho National Park, lol. The hotel itself was super roomy, clean, and welcoming. The balcony hot tub was awesome, with a gorgeous view. The front desk staff were the accommodating and by far the most friendly we dealt with on our vacation. I would recommend 10/10! (Pics were taken before checking out. Everything was in great condition and beds made when we got there) Brandy Beliveau, General Manager at Palliser Lodge, responded to this review Amazing to hear that you enjoyed your stay and got to see some wildlife on your trip. We agree our two bedroom hot tub suites are a great place to make your basecamp while exploring the area. We hope you visit us again soon!

    Kickinghorse Did Not Disappoint

    rating20 Jan 2025

We stayed at the Palliser Lodge 2 bed 2 bath with the hot tub on the balcony. What a fantastic ski trip. The condo was well equipped, spacious and for the most park in great shape. We used the hot tub every night, it’s not huge but it will fit 4 adults comfortably and worked as it should. This is ski in ski out lodging so no need to drive to the hill. Don’t listen to the Karen’s on the reviews, if you’re looking for a great ski holiday this won’t disappoint. My only suggestion would be to include extra towels for the hot tub. Brandy Beliveau, General Manager at Palliser Lodge, responded to this review Thank you for the great review and the feedback on extra towels. I will pass that along to my housekeeping management team and make that happen! We hope to host you again soon.

No frills but close to the thrills in the land that time forgot.

    rating25 Aug 2024

Very mixed views about the Palliser Lodge. It is positioned ideally for much of the activities Golden has to offer (hiking, mountain biking, the bear refuge, rafting, the skybridge to name a few.) The resort itself offering much of these on the doorstep. As a place to rest after a day of busy and thrilling activities, it really is ideal.During the summer, it is reasonably priced. However, there is a sense of lack of care for the smaller details that let it down and it very much felt like a ghost town (in summer at least). So many small, on their own minor things, that alone would be easily overlooked. But, together add up to a less satisfactory stay without crossing the line into being poor or unacceptable. Just so so!While the bed was huge, the bedding clean and crisp and the mattress extremely comfortable. While toiletries were well presented and welcoming. While the small kitchen area included washing up liquid, can openers, plates, glasses and so forth... Other things just seemed old or tired or simply forgotten about. Or just not thought through. Expect wonky drawers that don't closer properly, blinds that are a escape-room-level challenge to just pull up nevermind keep up, plaster that's been repatched but the painting over forgotten about, a coffee maker with filters and coffee provided, just nobody has bothered to clean it. Sinks with no plugs (luckily the bath still has its own), a balcony with two chairs just no table, inside a random dining chair with no workstation to sit at, and just to really top it all, a dvd player - welcome back the year 2000! It's all just a little odd!Check-in takes place in the nearby Glacier Lodge which has a warm, welcoming, spacious lobby and reminds you of what things could be like, if someone actually could be bothered. I wonder if their rooms have plugs for sinks too? Or if they've upgraded to Blu-ray? (Note: a quick TripAdvidor hunt shows a similar fate to the rooms of Glacier Lodge) Palliser Lodge's lobby still exists, but only, like everything else, as a reminder that time has abandoned the place. If all you need is a fairly priced, no frills base to sleep full of quirks and tired fixtures and fittings, you'll be more than happy. Adventure awaits around every corner and for many that is more than enough. For anyone who is looking for a stay somewhere that is well maintained and has a sense of care for the smaller details, perhaps try elsewhere. In short the Palliser Lodge is comfortable but needs a little TLC to bring it back up to what it could be. If you're happy to keep your expectations low, then you're good to go. Brandy Beliveau, General Manager at Palliser Lodge, responded to this review Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the ideal location of Palliser Lodge for all the activities Golden has to offer, as well as the comfort of the bed and the amenities in the kitchen. However, we sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the room’s upkeep and the overall atmosphere.Your comments about the small details, like the wonky drawers, blinds, and cleanliness of the coffee maker, are invaluable and will be addressed with our team. We appreciate your perspective on the check-in experience at Glacier Lodge and understand how important it is for our guests to feel welcomed and cared for throughout their stay. We’re committed to improving our property and amenities, and your insights will help us in that process. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future!

    It was ok.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite with a hot tub on the balcony. The room was spacious, had everything you needed, but run down. Unfortunately, there's no A/C so it did get quite warm. One fan was broken too. The hot tub turned my dark green swimsuit to a sage colour. The balcony was quite dirty (food spilt from a previous guest). Underground parking was nice. Overall, I don't think we'd stay again, more cons than pros.

    Stunning lodge

    rating12 May 2023

This place was fantastic. Stayed 2 nights since it was the low season. Nothing else was open on the mountain until late May, so be prepared to bring your own food, or drive 13 kms down the mountain. This place was so spacious. Lots of storage, washer and dryer, dishwasher and heated floors in the bathroom. No air-conditioning but did have a fan. Beautiful views from our balcony. Will come again next year.
