Location

This hotel is located in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada, at the intersection of Highway 3 and Mayor Magrath Drive. It is 7 minutes' walk from Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden and 2 minutes by car from Henderson Lake. It lies approximately 5 minutes from the Park Place Shopping Centre, 1.5 km from the city centre, with the Galt Museum and Archives and tourist centre, 5 minutes' drive from the Indian Battle Park and 8 minutes from Fort Whoop-up. Castle Mountain Resort is 1 ½ hours' drive, Waterton Lakes National Park is just over 1 ½ hours' drive, Glacier National Park is 2 hours’ drive and it is almost 2 ½ hours’ drive to Calgary.

Facility

The hotel has 139 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 9 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (no extra charge). Further services and facilities include room service, a laundry service and a hairdresser. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. The rooms have a queen-size bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked.

Sport

Excellent swimming awaits guests at the indoor pool. There are many ways to relax or stay active at the hotel, including golf, a gym, aerobics and a beauty salon.

Meals

Dining facilities include a café and a bar. A number of specialities await guests in the air-conditioned, non-smoking restaurant. A wide variety of dishes are served at all three main mealtimes. Guests can enjoy lunch and dinner as a set menu. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Unprofessional management and a complete lack of basic hospitality Rating: ⭐ (1/5) I spent 15 years in the travel and tourism industry, owning a company that reviewed hotels and worked with international tourism boards. I have never—in all those years—experienced a more "shockingly ugly" display of service than at this Sandman location.After an 8-hour drive on my birthday, I arrived to check in. Due to a recent relocation back to Canada, I didn't have a local credit card yet, and because of this, I was refused a room, a room that was paid for 2 months earlier by visa/debit. Rather than just complaining, I spent 30 minutes on the phone with RBC to provide a professional workaround. My bank confirmed a third-party authorization form is standard industry practice and a valid solution. When I returned to the desk to offer this bank-approved solution, the "manager" refused to even let me speak. He didn't want a resolution; he simply ordered me to leave and told me I was "not welcome." When I reacted with natural frustration to being turned away in the cold on my birthday (61) after offering a legitimate solution, they chose to hide behind "policy" rather than admit to a total failure in de-escalation and problem-solving. In this industry, you never know who is standing on the other side of the desk.A professional manager finds a way to make a stay work; this management team finds excuses to kick guests out. I ended up staying at Motel 6 just down the street, which was 1/2 the price. No problem with visa/debit, the room was excellent, the staff were friendly, and most importantly, they valued me as a customer, something the Sandman should have done instead of telling me that I wasnt welcome here.If you value empathy or professional service, stay elsewhere. This establishment lacks the basic competence to handle anything outside of a standard script.

    A great hotel for a hockey team

    We had a wonderful stay at this hotel!The Front Desk team was outstanding — so friendly and helpful throughout the weekend. Nathan was on several shifts and was fantastic, and Alexis was amazing both before our trip (helping with arrangements) and again when we checked out on Sunday. There were other very helpful front desk team members, but I unfortunately do not know their names.Housekeeping also did a great job — thank you to Ginette and her team for keeping everything spotless and welcoming.Crystal, thank you as well for coordinating our block booking and following up afterwards.We’ll definitely be back later in the hockey season and will happily recommend this hotel to other teams.Thank you, Sarah Dana W - General Manager, General Manager at Sandman Hotel Lethbridge, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to leave an excellent review!     This hotel has been here for many years. This is our third or fourth stay here and the staff has always been good. The restaurant located in the hotel is super convenient if you like Denny’s which has always been good. The hotel has the potential of being exceptional but just needs a few areas of improvement. First, the elevator doors open then quickly close on you and your luggage/bags. Second, the hotel needs some general maintenance and a deep clean. It’s not filthy but just smells and feels not clean. The location is great with easy access from the highway. I would use this hotel again in a pinch but not my first or even second pick. Some fix up and clean up and I would score it 4 out of 5.     Front desk staff start the stay off right!

    Front desk staff are the best! Always welcoming! Beds are comfy and room was clean. Pillows not my fav so we did buy our own. I am sure they would’ve been ok but I like a bigger pillow. The pool and exercise centre looked really nice, we’ll try it out next time we are here. We’ll be back!     We were booked at this hotel for an event convention with a special rate. Upon arriving the first thing we saw were almost people Milling around the parking lot. The parking lot itself was full of sand and gravel left over from the winter season apparently they don't own a sweeper or want to spend the money to clean the parking lot. We canceled our stay and booked a cleaner Hotel elsewhere. I do not recommend coming here until they do a major clean up.
