Second visit as good as the first

    rating09 Aug 2025

We had visited the Auberge Montebello for one night in 2023 and were satisfied. This year, we used it as a base for a cycling trip. Stayed on a Monday night, and came back for a Friday night stay. The pool was great, and fully appreciated by our crew. The hotel was busy at breakfast-time but the staff handled the flow very well. Rooms were a good size. We were able to leave a car parked on site for the three nights between our stays. We enjoyed a pizza delivery picnic by the pool on our last evening. Good value for money! Some of the faucets in our room were wonky, but only a minor inconvenience. we will be back!!

    EXCEPTIONAL HOSPITALITY...

    rating05 Apr 2025

EXCEPTIONAL HOSPITALITY...This family-run, traditional Victorian mansion inn is perfectly situated right on the Ottawa River with river views from the rooms. It is just a few minutes walk from several gourmet restaurants in the Montebello village. The couple who run the inn are extremely friendly and resourceful. They provide a light breakfast, with the option of home-made waffles.

    Horrible customer service

    rating27 Feb 2025

We didn't even get the chance to go. My wife was booked for a medical procedure that was cancelled at the last minute. We had booked a room because going all the way back home in the car would be too hard for her so I thought this would be a good option. Her procedure was pushed back and so I called to see if we could push back our stay to match with her new procedure date and I was told that no changes were allowed because in was under 48h of our stay. I wasn't asking for a refund but just to push back our night to match her new procedure date and was told: "You stay or you don't stay it doesn't matter, we charge you for the night. You can book another night for next time". If that's the customer service you get before you even get there, there is no chance I would ever actually stay there or recommend this place to anyone.

    Worst Hotel Experience Ever!

    rating05 Sept 2024

Auberge Montebello is a prime example of how not to run a hotel. It’s not worth the price or even a star rating. If I could give it a negative rating, I would. The place is very basic and definitely needs renovation. The owner at the reception is extremely unfriendly and rude. What really shocked me was the quality of the breakfast. It’s so poor that even a cheap motel offers a better breakfast. The business owner seems either greedy or unqualified, unable to provide a basic breakfast for guests. And they really qualify as 3-star hotel? There are boiled eggs kept in the refrigerator for who knows how long, tasteless waffles, a few kinds of bread, yogurt, and cheap coffee. That’s it—no warm food at all. The bread and bagels are the cheapest ones and are placed on the serving table in plastic bags, just like from the grocery store. It’s okay to keep bread like this at home, but it’s unacceptable for a hotel. Can’t you put it on a tray or in a special container like other hotels do? Even chip motels do a better job in this regard. The way butter is served is just horrible. I’ve never seen anything like it at any other hotel. It’s in a big container (about 2 pounds of butter) placed on an ice pack, and every guest scrapes some butter from that container. It’s probably “too expensive” for the hotel owner to provide butter in small individual containers. What a shame. I will never come back to this place!

    Quaint vintage vibe

    rating15 May 2024

Vintage cottage charm decor in a quaint old world setting. Our host Jesse was very attentive and eager to please.Very clean and sound proof rooms and a comfortable bed. I have scent sensitivities, so I was very appreciative that there were no lingering odours or masking air fresheners. Our room overlooked the marina and river and had a beautiful cross breeze. Rarely these days do you get a hotel room with windows that open! Large windows bring in plenty of light.Coming from a big city, it is soooo quiet in this village. The Fromagerie is right next door and I highly recommend for lunch. While this is not a high end hotel, it does deliver on the basic expectations for lodging. I was pleased to be able to bring my dog.Thank you Jesse for a relaxing and comfortable week at your venue.
