  Arriving into Montreal(and not being from there) we drove around far too long due to construction and minimal directions from hotel staff when called. Upon checking into our room, it smelled musty, the wall paper was peeling, hairs were left on the bathroom floor, the back of the door was dirty and garbage on the patio and our toilet wasn’t working. Only one elevator was working, and it was very slow so the waits were long. The photos listed were not what the rooms looked like. It was not a great experience. The breakfast was good, not a lot to pick from but decent for a continental breakfast. Unfortunately I would not revisit this hotel. It’s in major need of updates.

  Location is fantastic, bed was big and comfy, bathroom seemed recently updated. Clock radio didn't work, but not sure why you would even need one of these nowadays. The standing lamp was broken (didn't turn on). The room was spacious but musty smelling and very cold as the AC was set to 61 and running when we arrived. Be aware that Crescent Street is party central, so you will probably not have the best sleep, especially if your room is front facing like our was. It didn't help that the balcony door had no seal around it, so outside air and noise entered the room. Bring ear plugs if you plan to sleep. There are two very small elevators which are very slow. Take the stairs if you're on a lower floor. The breakfast was very good, although the breakfast room is small and gets crowded easily. Staff are super efficient and friendly. For a day or two it is a good place to stay if only for the location.

  Due to construction GPS instructions wanted us to take an alleyway between buildings, which was blocked by a service truck so we had to drive around again to try to find a place to unload our bags. We arrived a bit early but the front desk person said our room was ready. When we got to the room, on the second floor there was no balcony, it overlooked the roof top of the entrance which had trash, like bottles and cans and cigarette butts. It appeared that people with balconies from above were throwing the items there. The window looking out was very dirty. We removed our luggage and asked for the balcony room that we paid for. They told us we would have to come back at 3. We put our luggage in a cluttered locked room they don't use tags to identify the bags so anyone going in could potentially grab any bags and walk off with them. Once we got our room we were happy with it. It was clean and spacious which really is the most important thing for us. We didn't feel that it was super dated as others mention and the bathroom looked like it had been redone not so long ago. The beds were comfortable but the bedding is extremely worn. One duvet had rips all over it and the fitted sheets won't stay on because the elastic is worn out. The mattresses while comfortable are old enough that they're turning yellow. We also utilized the sofa bed, the mattress was older and stained. The blanket they gave us was old and had what appeared to be bleach stains. I think they need to work on quality control. Bedding really is the main need in a hotel. The rooms are not cleaned or restocked for a 3 day stay so we had to keep asking for kuerig cups and creamer. We had to ask for TP and we have to get a new ice bucket because ours was cracked and leaked all over. There is only ice on the main floor so if your on an upper floor it can take a long time to take the elevator to get ice. On the second day our toilet wasn't working and became clogged and they said they would give us the plunger as soon as another guest was done using it. This was a first for us after traveling all over the world?? Clearly there are plumbing issues in the building.The absolute worst part of our visit was the excruciatingly SLOW elevators. At some point one of them wasn't even working. Breakfast that was offered was limited some bagels and bread for toasting, prewrapped muffins, Activa yogurt, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage. 1 time there were small pancakes, dry cereal, apple and orange juice and instant oatmeal packets, apples, oranges. It was fine not great but fine. We did not park at the hotel we come a less expensive lot about a 5 minute walk away that could accommodate our mini van. Despite the construction it was a great location, very close to St. Catherine Street. Overall it was an OK stay.   military personnel unfriendly

  Not military friendly at all. Booked a non refundable room a month ahead. Week later, 3 weeks before the trip date, requested a free cancellation. As a military member you know how hard it is to book a vacation... Got change of plans unfortunately. Choice global customer service was willing to cancel it for free and the booking.com was willing to do that too, however the property itself declined it. The lady on the phone at the property was rude, and after back and forth with my explanation just hung up on me. I understand the consequences of non-refundable room booking, however, there is an option at the discretion of the property for a free cancellation. Been with Choice and Comfort suites for a while. I think its time to try something better. The company that should provide service has failed its single purpose. So the room will be empty but paid.   Perfect location and very good prices. Stayed for three nights. Yes, the rooms could use some work but they are clean and spacious. Huge TV, comfortable beds, and good shower.The front desk staff were amazing, which is the main reason for the 5-star review. Easy walk to the metro, very close to Bell Centre, and lots of good pubs/restaurants in the vicinity.
