The Wrong Side of Two Railroad Tracks...

    rating23 May 2026

So, we tumbled into this place from NYC, having to sleep over, before travelling on the next day. I have no problem with budget hotels, if they are clean and efficient and offer value for money. But, this was a very expensive night, for a budget offering that was very poor ($400). It was literally the wrong side of two railroad tracks; one with local commuter trains, another with these goods trains, that took 30 mins to pass (I kd you not). BTW that was 4 separate rail-sets, one in each direction for each line (to help you visualise). From our bedroom window we had a great view of both and the fetching 3-storey carpark for customers. This whole set-up was in this liminal space, near the airport with fly-overs and highways and a lot of scorched-earth construction projects, the main point of which seemed to be to destroy the countryside. On positives, it was clean and the rooms were a little larger than standard (you could pass between the bed-end and wall). The staff were doing their best and smiley. But, the restaurant area was as grim and basic as a police barracks,. The hotel decor seemed to be hiding a much older hotel, beneath the makeup. Eg the sunken bath-shower was straight out of Psycho, with that plastic curtain, pole and rings (I kept glancing for Bates' shadow). All very depressing after a long day's travel. I would have accepted it, if not for the shocking price-gouge.

Great hotel! Not your average Fairfield. Staff are excellent. Location is perfect for access to the airport.Rooms are modern and clean. The train tracks are close but you do not hear the trains. 3-star hotel right at the Airport; good cheaper alternative to City Center hotels if you are willing to commute

    rating05 Jul 2025

I stayed at this hotel for one night; was looking for something more affordable and since I was not sightseeing in the common tourist areas nor working in the CBD, I did not mind a more distant hotel. However since I came car free I wanted to stay on the Island and near transit. The Airport cluster works perfect on that front. The hotel is right next to both the EXO (suburban / commuter rail) and Via (intercity rail) Dorval stations (note that the stations are seperate as Via uses CN tracks and EXO uses CP. EXO Dorval is located on the N side by the hotel, VIA Dorval is on the S side and you need to cross the tracks using an underpass. While EXO is not as frequent as some other suburban rail networks, there are also many local busses that go from the station to downtownAs for the hotel itself, it is a typical 3-star: has the basics and provides a good-stay, but nothing luxirious or fancy. And being 3-star the basics are all included. My room had a good view of the Airport, a strong AC, and a nice shower. The pool and gym are in the basement. The pool is *very very* small. The gym has typical 3-star hotel equipment and is 24/7.I did not get a chance to try the complimentary breakfast but I did take some coffee and it was good!Staff are friendly, though because the hotel is on the West Island, the staff is anglophone though they all seem to be fluently english-french bilingual. Main pros: - Location: Right at Dorval Station. Good transit connecticvity - More affordable that city centre hotels - Comfortable, good 3-star hotelMain cons: - Pool is tiny - Still pricey, but that is the cost of hotles in Montréal nowdays - Location: No restaurants or any other stores nearby. The hotel has a restaurant that serves lunch and dinner (for a fee) but it is not the best - it serves bar food at bar prices. But they have a near monopoly unless you order delivery as there is nothing nearby. Just the airport, train stations, busses, and highways. Simon Laniel, General Manager at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Montreal Airport, responded to this review Dear ASA, Thank you for your review and we hope to see you next time !

    Stay somewhere else

    rating04 Jun 2025

While the hotel is clean, the front desk staff is unfriendly and rigid, especially with regards to parking. We checked in, dropped off our bags, and went out again. When we came back down to our car (within about 15 minutes), one of the hotel staff was out in the parking lot taking pictures of our car. We yelled at him, especially since we don't trust strangers skulking around. He said that the hotel parking in front of the hotel was 15 minutes only, even though there are no signs indicating this. They also charge $25 CAD/night for parking, which is overpriced for the area. The hotel is located near the Montreal airport, however, it is nowhere near any services. It is also difficult to navigate to any services (like restaurants or gas stations). On the positive side, the continental breakfast service was adequate. If it wasn't for the fact that we had an early flight out of Montreal, we wouldn't have stayed there. We stayed at 5 different hotels while in Canada, three of which were Marriott properties. This hotel had the worst service, by far.I don't recommend this hotel, unless you have no other choice.
