  Don’t believe the pictures of the room on the website. We got a premier king, and so did my other family members, but the room they stuck my wife and I in was tiny. When I complained that the room didn’t have a chair or other amenities, like the rooms they gave my other family members, and had a tiny bathroom, they just said the premier king room only refers to the size of the bed and not anything else. They refused to move me to another room or give me a discount based on the crummy room we got. Do not recommend. There are other nicer hotels in the area with better rates.

  Disappointing stay for 3 nights at this hotel. This was the end part of our trip to Canada and the worst hotel we have stayed in.Queen room very small- only one desk chair to sit on - my husband and myself were ready to move on after the first few hours. Firstly the safe in the wardrobe had no power to it, broken lamp at bulb attachment. We had to ask at reception for these to be fixed. The safe needed a battery and the light was taped up but still dangerous to use. Cables plugged into extension socket on floor. This is supposed to be a 4 star rated hotel. Not a good impression or safe. The net curtains on the window were ripped and dirty . Very poor lighting in room only lamps no ceiling lighting. Best lighting was in the tiny bathroom in which there wasn’t a lot of room to move in. Fridge in room but no complimentary water in room. Coffee machine but no facility for hot water in room for other hot drinks. Hotel is very quirky which is nice but looks like a lot of money and effort put into all the accessories in reception and hallways but not on the actual rooms. Glorified b&b - I realise it’s a boutique hotel but shouldn’t be called a hotel and definitely doesn’t deserve a 4 star - 3 star at the most .Bathroom ceiling in disrepair and disgusting along with mould in between bathroom taps - some bleach would clean it well. Some staff were very rude - first morning of breakfast if you could call it that - staff member was rude the way she referred to my husband as HIM.Not very professional. Only 2 croissants allowed at breakfast with one hot and one cold drink - any more was extra cost bearing in mind our room was bed and breakfast. Have also put a complaint in to the travel agent we booked with and several photos sent to them. Was a good location but the photos on the website make the property look amazing but it is nothing like it. Would not recommend staying her at all.

  Eclectic, hideaway in a perfect location

  If you’re looking for something unique with personality that isn’t just another of Marriott’s 50 corporate brands, L’Hotel is the place. L’Hotel is like the type of stay you get in historic European cities. It has a family-run feel. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. The housekeeper came to make sure we were satisfied a few minutes after checking in. Some of the furniture is dated and a bit mismatched but it’s comfortable, very quiet and cozy. The presidential suite was huge (700 square feet or so) and had a great shower and bath tub. The bed was very comfortable. Never tried the breakfast but the lobby has a cute gift shop. Montreal is a quirky city and this hotel captures that feeling perfectly. If you’re looking for a true luxury hotel this is not it. But if you want comfort and a clean, safe place with some nice touches at a very good price then give it a try. Otherwise you can spend the same amount of money and get a small room in one of the many overpriced Old Montreal hotels nearby. The hotel could spend some time shining up the bright red awnings on the exterior as they are looking a little tired. Otherwise, I’d be happy to go back.

  Do not stay here- Not as advertised. The presidential king suite that we had did not align with the online pictures. Completely misrepresented. The suite we got was dated and dark, and it lacked a pullout couch suitable for an adult to sleep on. The front desk indicated that all the suites look the same. So the question is: where are those shown in the pictures on the website? The suite was booked so that we could have 2 separate sleeping areas. That was not possible. The pull-out sofa did not have an actual mattress. The solution from the person at the front desk was for me to write a bad review. So, at the recommendation of the front desk person, I am leaving this review. The front desk did not seem to understand that expecting an adult to sleep on that couch is unreasonable. We were told many times it's not the hotel’s fault if we didn't like the decor. They missed the issue that the suite is completely misrepresented.Additionally, this hotel is old, dark, and in need of major renovations. The walls are paper-thin. Furthermore, the king bed mattress is ancient and all springs could be felt. Do not stay here. There are many nicer hotels in the area for much less money.   A big let down. It's definitely not a 4-star hotel.

  I was deeply disappointed with my accommodation at L'Hotel Montreal on 3/25/26, and because of my experience, I could not stay another evening and complete my 2-night booking. I was further disappointed to know that the manager wouldn't talk with my American Express representative or me. I booked this room and hotel specifically for my birthday and because it was a local, art-centered property in Old Montreal. When I first arrived, I was assigned to the wrong type of room (it did not have the separate bath I booked as advertised), and I had to ask twice for the receptionist to check my reservation. I knew there was a difference between the price points of the Presidential king suite I booked and the King suite I was given at first.I had a museum and dinner reservation to get to, so I didn't have a lot of time to fully inspect the new room, but what I noticed was alarming. The first room proved to me that the property is not truly a 4-star establishment (e.g., the low-cost sofa with plastic in-arm cup holders, stained desk, the shabby carpet, and other missed details), but the second, "presidential suite" was in some ways even more of a let down. At $369 CAD per night, the room was less than acceptable.In the "Presidential suite," (room 403) much of the furniture was worn and mismatched: the black faux leather chair and the strange, scuffed movable surface coffee table were some of the worst pieces. The artwork seemed random and not curated (e.g., Norman Rockwell print above the bed featuring a child at the doctor's office with their buttocks exposed, pop art, palm trees, abstract splatter painting, and a Chagall print were just some of the random, non-curated art). I'm not sure if any of the pieces were original, but they did not create a unified aesthetic for the room. The carpet was shabby and worn. There was a strong mildew odor that I was unsure of at first, but it got worse through the night, and I woke up several times because the pillows were quite lumpy, and in the morning, I had a scratchy throat I'm convinced was from the mildew. There was no free bottled water or filtered water for the room--I didn't even see an ice bucket, but perhaps I missed one. There was no safe to lock my valuables as advertised on the website (there was a safe in the first room). The refrigerator was plugged into a faulty electrical outlet, and, alas, it was not running through the night, so my leftover food was ruined by morning. There was an old boombox from the 2000s, I assume, and an electric fireplace with no instructions. The Nespresso machine was broken--I've used several of these machines so I'm familiar, and I tried several electrical outlets to no avail. Some electrical outlets in the room were broken, but I tested a few that I knew worked and I could never get the Nespresso machine to turn on. Plus, there was only 1 Nespresso pod and 2 of the 3 cups provided would not fit the machine. The bathroom was nicest part of the room. There was a separate tub and shower. The towel for the floor was worn and tattered. The bath robes were thin and not luxe like you'd expect at a 4-star hotel. Another new towel had another person's long hair strand on it. The travel-sized toiletries were not 4-star quality. I didn't use the shower gel because it had evidence of being already opened. There was no turn-down service and no slippers. Thankfully, I had my own slippers from a previous hotel and wore them in part because the carpet looked worn. The keycards were very sensitive, and both of mine demagnetized almost immediately as I carried them with my phone. A worker told me that the phone can demagnitize them after the fact. Another work explained that it would be too expensive to replace the locks and card system. OK, but the front desk staff should tell people this information when they check in. I did not eat the breakfast, which was 2 pastries and 2 drinks, I believe. In the morning, I was more than ready to leave. I didn't sleep well, and I called American Express first thing. There's more I can say, but for the money I paid and for the 4-star experience advertised, I was deeply disappointed. What a way to ruin a birthday--and no acknowledgement was made even though this information was a part of my booking--not even a small chocolate! I hate to criticize a small, local business, but this hotel is a 2-star hotel at best. I will say that the young man with a nice moustache I spoke to in the morning seemed empathetic and understanding of my disappointment. So, I thank him for that kindness. Alas, it seems that my money is gone. And I am writing this from a better hotel a 6-min walk away that costs less per night and is actually a 4-star experience. I'm writing this as a way to provide documentation and feedback on ways to improve and as a way to let others know what to expect. I regret not reading more of this property's reviews.
