    On the positive side you can't beat the location. Also, the staff were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was light, bright and large and decorated in accordance with the historical building. However, sadly the negatives outweighed the positives. We are Accor members and familiar with the luxury of Fairmont hotels. This one did not meet our expectations. Although the room was large the bathroom was tiny and somewhat difficult to use. The linens were very disappointing. The towels were thin and the sheets were stiff and scratchy. I looked forward to the soft and luxurious linens of other Fairmonts. The leather desk chair iwas tattered and torn which made us feel little value for money. The coffee, tea and creamers were not replaced after use. All in all a disappointing stay.     Overpriced for what you get

    Stunning building and clean rooms. However, acknowledging this is a heritage building, there are too many inconveniences such as no usb plugs and all sockets on the floor and not by beds. Shower difficult to use. Rooms small for the money and very dated. Breakfast service buffet is oddly laid out and again stone cold plates for hot food. Why can’t hotels provide hot plates for hot food. It’s basic hospitality. Poor breakfast choice of breads and the toaster takes far too long. You have a domestic toaster on the bar. Woefully inadequate for the needs of guests.     The Fairmont Chateau Laurier is a luxury hotel built in 1912, across the street from the Grand Trunk Railway Station. It is near Parliament Hill and the Byward Market. When viewed from across the street, it looks like a castle.When I checked in, I was upgraded from a classic queen room to a deluxe king room because I am a silver member of their loyalty programme. My room was probably two rooms in 1912 that were later combined. That would explain why I had two bathrooms! That would be great if I was sharing the room with someone. The room itself was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay here.I was surprised to find out that you need to make a reservation for breakfast. This is the only hotel where I needed to do so. The breakfast buffet was decent and they have a station where they make fried eggs and omelets to order.     Not good enough!

    Not worth it! Rooms are very dated & bathrooms especially small. Valet parking is chaotic & expensive. Had to line up for 10 minutes for breakfast, even with a reservation. Breakfast servers were great however buffet breakfast was cold. Fire alarm went off and on 3 times during the night until an announcement on speakers explained there was no issue. Thanks for a great nights sleep, It is however a beautiful grand hotel in a good location. Service & customer focus needs to improve. Also overcharged on our bill but corrected after we called.     Good stay but some staff could do better

    Lovely hotelWhen we arrived our room was lovely with a good view and all facilities we wanted.Pool and gym were fine.Reception and staff taking our cases and greetings were so friendly.The hotel was key down but two very unprofessional and sulky staff at the entrance to Zoe's restaurant.Breakfast has to be booked.Even though the restaurant has lots of empty tables there is a que.We asked if we could sit in the window as it was free and were told no.There was no reason apart from it had to be made up .We said we didn’t mind d and moved ourself.We were abruptly told that we had been advised we could not sit there and should nit have lived.they said we told you you could not sit there!! I asked if it was reserved and it wasn’t! We stay at many such hotels.For example had it been the Taj palace in Mumbai the staff would have said ‘ certainly I’ll get it made up for you’ but no and we were confronted as if we had been naughty children!!Otherwise a good stay.
