Worst food at a restaurant I ever ate

    rating09 May 2026

My adult children and my boyfriend went to the Mother's Day brunch May 10th. I'm sorry but it was the worst experience of food I ever had. The only choice out of the brunch choices was a turkey dinner that was gluten free. The dessert was not gluten free but they accommodated upon asking for a gluten-free dessert. Being gluten I did not want the turkey dinner which was my only choice so I chose the quiche lorraine and got rid of the crust. Trying to cut into it it was extremely dry and hard and half of my meal flipped off the plate and went on to the floor. The table was offered buns and bread but nothing was offered to me for gluten-free and when I asked the guy apologized and said we don't have any gluten-free bread so I watched my family eat in front of me. My other three company did not totally enjoy their meal either for the price of $40 it was absolutely gross. The waiter should have been in a race car because he spoke so fast and zoomed by us like he was high on some sort of speed I know this is not nice to say but I did not feel that it was an intimate Mother's Day brunch I felt that it was a fast-paced, store-bought Frozen packaged food the guest who had gravy on their plate suggested the same. I would not recommend another Mother's Day brunch at this Quality Inn restaurant very very disappointed I left dissatisfied and unhappy peitraveller21, at Quality Inn & Suites Downtown, responded to this review Dear Deborah,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your Mother’s Day brunch experience.I was very surprised to hear of your disappointment, as our Mother’s Day menu did include several gluten-free options. The Roast Sirloin of Beef with au jus was fully gluten free without modification, and our stir fry option could also be prepared gluten free. The only entrée that was not available gluten free was the brunch plate. The Roast Turkey Dinner was the only option that the GFO was at another price point.I am sorry we were unable to provide gluten-free bread during your visit, as unfortunately that item was shorted on our delivery order. I certainly understand how frustrating that would have been.I also wish the concerns regarding your meal, particularly the quiche and the item that fell from your plate, had been brought to our attention while you were dining with us. I was working as General Manager throughout the event, and we would have gladly replaced the dish or addressed the issue immediately to improve your experience. We served nearly 200 guests during our Mother’s Day brunch and fortunately did not receive other complaints regarding the food or service. We also believe our pricing was fair and competitive, with the $35 brunch including an entrée, assorted breads, dessert, and coffee or tea. That said, I am sorry your experience did not meet your expectations, as we always want our guests to leave satisfied and well cared for.Sincerely,Tanya

    Broken glass

    rating01 Aug 2025

My husband and I stayed in a King Suite for 3 nights - lovely accommodations. On the first evening, I stepped on a small shard of glass and was lucky enough to pull it out of my foot without issue. About an hour later, my husband stepped on another piece of glass but couldn’t see it. In the morning, I tried unsuccessfully to remove the glass with tweezers. I eventually called the front desk to request a sewing kit so I could use the needle to lift out the glass. The manager and asst manager delivered the sewing kit and bandages and showed appropriate concern. This is where it got weird and uncomfortable: they proceeded to tell us they personally inspect every suite prior to guests arriving and there was absolutely no glass in our room. They asked us if we broke anything. Nope. They then kept saying what a surprise this is and a concern for them to solve where this glass came from. Again, they told us that when they inspected the room, there was no glass on the floor so it couldn’t have been there. In spite of their accusatory tone, we were very amicable - stating that the previous guests likely broke something and a few pieces were missed - accidents happen. They explained to us again that it simply could not have happened because they inspected the room. Sigh. We weren’t looking for any special treatment or discounts. We were being very agreeable and letting them know we weren’t upset - but my husband has a piece of glass in his foot. We ended up going to emerg because he couldn’t walk. It was in there deep, but the doc got it. And if you think a piece of glass in the heel hurts, I’m told a needle for freezing is much worse ;)When we went to the front desk later that evening about a separate query, the asst manager was at the desk and thoughtfully asked how my husband made out with his foot. We quickly explained that we spent the afternoon in emerg, but kept it short because we weren’t up for another conversation of “blame the guests”. We lost a day of vacation due to this incident. Stuff happens. But their defensive attitude added more salt to the wound, so to speak. , Owner at Quality Inn & Suites Downtown, responded to this review I am so sorry this happened during your stay. Our AGM and Housekeeping Manager made me aware of the situation. Our team went in your room as soon as made aware and cleaned the floors looking for more glass but were unable to find anything. We do not have any clear glass items in this specific room for this reason. With the outdoor hot tub deck and guests taken drinks on the deck and getting in and out of the hot tub. We provide the plastic glasses to avoid these issues. I think that is why the managers were so surprised to hear that there was glass in the room.Once we were made aware our HK Manager talked to the her team that cleaned the room previous to your check in and the room did not have any broken items or issues. I believe this is why the Managers were so surprised to hear this happened. I am wondering if maybe the tiny shards of glass were taken in on the bottom of shoes. I am so sorry this disturbed your vacation.I am glad you enjoyed your accommodations. I would like to offer you a complimentary upgrade to a suite on a future stay. Sincerely,Tanya Bevan General Manager Quality Inn & Suite Charlottetown
