  Excellent breakfast, especially the waffles, made to order, nice & fresh. comfortable beds, clean rooms. however, cant find the elevator to the second floor, not that we needed.

  Staff were pleasant and accommodating as much as possible. They are limited to what the facilities provide and condition. Always a smile and polite. The pillows were amazing.The carpet is so dated it is pulling up in the main hallways making it difficult to move luggage and is a falls risk. I personally caught myself in several spots in the hallways on 2 separate occations tripping ( but did not fall). It is dated that it gives the appearance of being dirty (90's) era. This is not a Karen type complaint, it is just well over due for renovations. The hallways are very dark and poorly lit, making the not so great signage difficult to see and read. There are newer and nore affordable options in Olds. This facility is more like a Motel 6 in quality of the building and is a 30yrs in need or updating.   The hotel's location and service are excellent, and having a Boston Pizza right next door is incredibly convenient, especially when you're trying to find a restaurant in the dark.The room was well-appointed; however, my ground-floor room right off the main lobby was unfortunately not soundproof. I could hear everything—people arriving, water flushing through pipes. The most challenging part was calling the front desk between 10-11 pm to address the noise from above. It sounded like a herd of elephants in the room. After a couple of complaints, someone upstairs did a loud stomp at 11:05 pm, waking me up and continuing to do so until 11:35 pm. I was looking at my watch, so I know the specific times.The heating unit kept going off and on, which was loud and rattling. At 4:30 am, someone started their truck right outside my bedroom window. There’s even a notice on the desk about carbon monoxide poisoning and what to do should you feel any symptoms. It's concerning that trucks are allowed to idle right outside the room window.As for the breakfast buffet, the presentation looked good, but the hash browns were either overcooked or leftover from the day before. The egg dish selections were definitely not real—rubbery and tasteless. The bacon was cold as ice, and I didn't try the sausages. The pastries were dry and heavy. Even the coffee maker wasn't working properly, as I heard the staff mention that someone didn't put the spout down, so it was all water and no coffee.On the positive side, after I complained about the room, I received a $40 discount off my room rate. The agent at the desk did her best, but unfortunately, you can't fix ignorant guests. I discovered that a couple of hockey teams were staying in the building.My advice: If you need to stay here, get a room on the higher floors, bring earplugs, and find a restaurant in the morning.Don't expect to find a pool or hot tub on the property. They have no intentions of replacing it or fixing it. This is an ongoing issue for the past 1-2 years according to the reviews left on sites. We had communicated the quiet time to be 9.00 pm however we had to reiterate multiple times to these 7 - 8 years boys to keep it down.Our breakfast is cooked fresh every morning which includes over easy eggs and scrambled eggs which are made by freshly cracked eggs. We do not use bagged eggs. In fact Best Western Olds is among the top 20 percent hotels for breakfast. We continuously make fresh bacon, sausage , hash brown as needed through out the morning.Our coffee machine makes various coffee beverages like late, cappuccino, decaffeinated cappuccino etc. which is available 24 hours and the juice dispenser dispenses three different varieties of juice which is also available 24 hours.We have construction plans for the swimming pool which is already underway, including water slides and play pool.Sincerely,Mike Johnson

  Hockey tournament weekend

  Our hockey team came here for a tournament this past weekend. Arty at the front desk made the check in run very smoothly. Cheryl made sure the boys had enough breakfast before their games started and the staff at the adjoining Boston Pizza had our meals ready at the specific time we requested.As for the rooms, we had 15 rooms booked. All the rooms were clean and very comfortable.The pool was being renovated during our stay.

  This was by far the best and least expensive hotel we stayed in. The rooms are spotless and correctly made for efficiency. At breakfast, instead of the usual help yourself style, we had our breakfast made to order. The staff were super friendly and were always asking if everything was alright. We stayed here before and were just as pleased we chose to stay here both times.
