    Cold, poor service no management

    rating27 Feb 2026

We stayed here for one night. We were in the pool and the power suddenly went out. We left to return to our room, stairwells were pitch black with no emergency lighting. There was one worker in the entire building, said her supervisor said to give it an hour. The power and heat were off for well over an hour in a heavy snow storm. Front doors wouldn’t open, you had to pry them open to get in. The next morning around 730, I went to take a shower and the water was ice cold. I called the front desk and was informed that they needed to reset the boiler after the power outage and that maintenance should be here around 830 (no help for us as we had 3 kids to get ready for a competition) because they didn’t come do it last night. No supervisor or maintenance would come in over night and left this one poor worker to deal with a bunch of upset patrons. I asked for a refund before bed, so we could go to another hotel… can’t because no supervisor. Discount for a terrible stay… can’t because there’s no supervisor. Upon check out the worker said how was your stay and laughed and said nevermind… I’m sure very bad before I even had a chance to say anything. AVOID!!! Dodie Gladue, General Manager at Prairie Crest Red Deer, responded to this review Dear Jennifer,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry for the series of events you encountered during your stay. The unexpected power outage during severe weather was an unfortunate situation, and we sincerely apologize for the discomfort and inconvenience it caused you and your family. We understand how stressful it must have been to navigate dark stairwells, deal with cold temperatures, and wake up to no hot water — especially while trying to prepare three children for an important competition. Your concerns regarding emergency lighting, door access, and overnight support are taken very seriously. Guest safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we regret that we did not meet expectations during this incident. While weather-related outages can be beyond our control, how we respond is within our responsibility, and we recognize that you felt unsupported. We also apologize if the interaction at checkout came across as dismissive, that was certainly not our intention, and we understand how frustrating the entire experience must have felt. Again, we are very sorry for your experience and appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.

    Comfortable room

    rating20 Feb 2026

Bed’s & pillows are comfortable. It was super cold outside when we arrived and sadly the room was equally bitterly cold when we arrived. they had the heat set at 13c. It took 3.5 hrs for it to warm up to 18c. Never fell asleep till 2:30am because it was so cold. Thought it would be a quiet room as it was on the backside of the hotel, but the heater was extremely noisy, and of course the vehicles in the lot. It was still a very nice place over all to stay. I would choose it again. Dodie Gladue, General Manager at Prairie Crest Red Deer, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for your review. We’re very glad you found the beds and pillows comfortable and that you would choose to stay with us again — that means a lot.We sincerely apologize that your room was so cold upon arrival and that it took several hours to warm up. We understand how frustrating that must have been, especially when it affected your sleep. We’ll also look into the heater noise to ensure it’s operating properly. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back for an even more comfortable stay next time.

Human feces in the pool, and the staff left the pool open and didn't attempt to clean it, or warn people not to go In

    rating04 Feb 2026

Housekeeping unavailable most of the day. A policy that they don't mention of only cleaning the room after your SECOND night, and most disgustingly, and definitely against health codes, there was human feces in the swimming pool. Now you may say, hey, accidents happen. However, we went in the pool and discovered the feces AFTER 9pm. After talking to the front desk clerk, we found out that they had been told about the human feces in the pool at 730pm, and a full 2 hours later had done absolutely NOTHING about it, including leaving the pool open for others (like our entire ringette team) to go swimming in the feces water until one of us noticed the smeared feces at top of the slide. Dodie Gladue, General Manager at Prairie Crest Red Deer, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We are deeply concerned by the experience you described, and we sincerely apologize for the distress and discomfort it caused. This situation does not reflect our standards of cleanliness, safety, or guest care.Any report involving pool contamination should result in the immediate closure of the facility and proper cleaning in accordance with health and safety protocols. We take your comments very seriously and are conducting a full internal review of the events you described, including staff response and adherence to required procedures. Appropriate corrective actions are being taken to ensure this does not occur again. We also regret any confusion regarding our housekeeping service schedule and understand how this may have added to your frustration. Your feedback highlights areas where clearer communication and better service are essential. Guest safety is our top priority, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It is our hope that you will consider giving us the chance to better serve you in the future.

    Comfortable accommodation in Red Deer

    rating02 Dec 2025

It was very conveniently located and easy to find. The lobby was nice and clean and fairly modern. It was good value for a large room with comfortable beds very nice to have a place to plug in devices. it seemed very quiet for the time we were there. Check in and check out were very easy. I would have liked a chair or two besides the desk chair in the room so we wouldn’t have to sit on the bed necessarily to watch TV or put on our shoes Dodie Gladue, General Manager at Prairie Crest Red Deer, responded to this review Dear Journey,Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our convenient location, clean lobby, spacious and comfortable room, and easy check-in/check-out. We also appreciate your suggestion regarding additional seating and will share it with our team. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
