Very good for the price, great staff

    rating18 Mar 2025

I had to stay at this hotel for two nights for work. I must say that I was impressed by the overall quality of my stay, especially regarding the price paid. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast included with the room very good, the view from the room quite nice, but the best was certainly the staff absolutely dedicated, extremely nice, and always helpful. I will certainly choose again this hotel if I need to stay in the region.

New, Comfortable Hotel, With Some Issues to Improve.

    rating19 Aug 2023

The hotel almost new new, great point is that it has a free laundry service with good new machines. The location is great for business travellers as it has several restaurants and the biggest grocery stores at walking distance. The rooms are comfortable with a nice sized TV. Mattresses are top quality and extremely comfortable. The not so good things: very poor internet speeds for business travellers. These days even the cheapest motels out West have internet speeds of 50+mbps. A pricey hotel like this should be running at 100- 150mbps at least if they want to attract business travellers. Unfortunately whoever built this hotel had the bad idea of putting carpet in the bedrooms, so they are already covered with stains. Some of the front staff workers are uncaring and oblivious, always glued to their cell phones. This hotel could be much better with a little bit of effort from management. Better, faster internet service, remove the carpets from the rooms, better train front desk staff in customer service skills.

    Not worth it

    rating16 Jan 2023

The hygiene and cleaning are deficient. The cleaning lady was leaving her long brown hair in my bathroom when changing the towels. No sweep, no floor cleaning no bed sheet changed. The receptionist always plays Solitaire on her computer and he is looking at clients with absent eyes.

    Great for a short stay

    rating09 Sept 2022

We spent two (2) evenings here on our tour of Cote Nord. The hotel was easy to find as it is located on route 138. There is a shopping mall just behind the hotel and a large IGA grocery store across the street. My first impression was not favourable, the front desk clerk was surly and I felt like I was disturbing her. The paperwork to fill out and sign was literally shoved at me and she mumbled instructions and information. Our room, however, was well appointed and clean. Although it faced the highway, we did not hear any traffic noise. There was also a small bar fridge in our room and a desk. Our rate included breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised at the selection. The room was large, sunny, and nicely appointed. Hot items offered included bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and fried potatoes. Kudos to the serving staff – they were attentive, quickly refilled items and on top of keeping tables cleaned. They even offered lactose free milk. Our sleep was comfortable. Remember we booked two (2) nights – after a full day of touring we returned to our room to find that our keys did not work – yesterday’s unhelpful clerk only programmed one night. Back down to reception, to disturb her again, to gain access to our room. But, overall, our stay was comfortable and I would return. I would have rated our stay higher if not for the rude, unpleasant front desk clerk.

    Rude, Condescending Reception Staff

    rating30 Aug 2019

The Quality Inn Sept Iles hotel looks appealing from the outside. It is a new building in the parking lot of the town's biggest mall. Having a 24-hour Walmart next door was quite nice as I needed a few essentials for my travels.Check in was unpleasant and inhospitable. There was a ‘Back in Five Minutes’ notice on the counter. I waited about ten, but needed a pee, so went to the toilet. When I returned I said good evening to the woman who now sat behind the reception desk, but she was busy playing solitaire, so did not bother to look up. As I approached the desk I said that I have a reservation. At that, an annoyed face looked up at me and uttered, very sharply, “What?” I was a bit taken aback. I repeated that I have a reservation and told her my name. “What?” she snapped for a second time, “Name?”. I repeated my name. “Spell it!”. I spelled out my three letter surname that I am sure she could have figured out for herself had she cared to. Wordlessly, she thrust a form in my general direction for me to initial and sign in several places. I asked what time breakfast would be. “6.00am!”, she grumbled. “Until what time?” I enquired. “What?!” she responded..... and so the one-sided conversation went on until I asked her what her name is. She wore no name tag, which is probably best if you planning to be openly rude and disrespectful to your employer's paying guests. Her name is Josie. I told her that she is rude and that she would be able to read about herself on Tripadvisor. After that she tried to crack a smile and look at me whenever I passed, but it was too late. The smiles should have been part of the non-existant welcome. What inspires hotel operators to hire such rude, condescending people to manage their guests’ first experience on arrival? These people can make or break an hotel’s reputation. I suggest that whoever runs the Quality Inn Sept-Iles starts by disabling games programmes on the desktop computer and then initiates customer relations training. If that fails, find someone friendly to welcome guests. It was blindingly obvious in the mall across the car park that Sept-Iles has no shortage of unemployed people who would love to be an hotel receptionist and they are friendly enough too.The hotel itself is bog-standard. There is nothing special about it. It is functional and clean, but rather dark considering how new it is.Breakfast was uninspiring, but it was here that I experienced my first smile from a Quality Inn Sept-Iles hotel employee, so that was a plus.I will try another property in the hope of a decent welcome if I return to these parts.
