    Good spot to land in Gander

    We stayed here when we came to see "Come From Away". It's a great location, close to amenities and a 5 minute car ride to the theatre. There's also a small bar in the hotel. Needs a bit of refurbishing. A bit outdated!

    This property is at least 60 years old and shows it --- torn screens in BR window, faded wallpaper, sluggish toilet, dingy lobby, dark bar, bumpy car park, etc. My wife and I [both experienced world travellers have never encountered a "brand name" [Quality Inn] property as run down as this. One of their strangest policies is that they do not service their rooms or suites every day. "We only do housekeeping every other day" we were told by the hotel manager [F] when we protested our untidy suite and lack of clean towels. She remained mute when we asked "Should we only pay you for every other day?" On a positive note, the restaurant scores a B++ re menu but has friendly A grade staff.     It's a decent hotel, it's in Gander, right on the TCH, probably that's everything you're looking for. There's a restaurant and "lounge" inside the hotel, restaurant serves breakfast as well. Small indoor pool. We stayed in a separate building, which was fine in mid summer. Could be awkward in the winter. Walking distance to several other restaurants.     Hotel is clean and off the highway. But badly needs renovations!!!! Throughout. Dark and dreary.

    I was part of a tour of Newfoundland with 2 nights in Gander. Learned so much about the wonderful kind people during 9/11. And Come From Away. Pleasant staff. V dated hotel. The rooms are adequate and boy this hotel so badly needs a renovation! The food at dinner is pretty good. Pity doesn't stay open later than 8! Breakfast buffet. V average. The restaurant Alcock and Brown. Needs to be upgraded - even tablecloths for dinner time would be nice. Our group of 20 did not have a lot of options in the area.     This place is rundown and dirty. The wallpaper in our hotel room is peeling, there is nowhere to put any toiletries in the washroom, there are stains in the carpets throughout the hallways, and gym has 3 pieces of equipment that haven’t been maintained and an incomplete set of hand-weights. It’s the worst Quality Inn we have ever stayed at.
