    Pleasant stay

    rating30 Apr 2026

Checking in - there was initially an issue due to the booking confirmation code not showing up but the staff dealt with it exceedingly well and with patience. Kudos to Ms Khanna for navigating that with professionalism and understanding. They found a room even though I was a little early and explained all the amenities. The room - yes in some ways it is a little dated but it was clean and smelled fresh. The bathroom was modern and functional, with the usual shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the shower and lotion and hand wash at the sink. The iron was powerful which is great as I had functions to attend so I took care of a couple of very creased outfits. The free internet was good for streaming and could manage Zoom calls that I had for work. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were just right. Plug sockets were available at the bedside as well as at the desk and a couple more in the walls. The microwave and fridge worked great, and I appreciated the small sitting area for a couple of guests that came to say hi while I was in town. The only issue was the TV and remote that I couldn’t get to work responsively, but I had my devices with me so it wasn’t a great issue. I was on the 6th floor so I didn’t have too much noise coming in, and so I had good sleep while I was here. Overall — a pleasant place to spend a couple days!

The Monte Carlo Inn: Where Valentine’s Day Dreams Go to Die (Slowly, in a Baby Pool)

    rating16 Feb 2026

The Monte Carlo Inn: Where Valentine’s Day Dreams Go to Die (Slowly, in a Baby Pool)Oh, what a magical Valentine’s Day adventure at the Monte Carlo Inn! My partner and I decided to book a "Jacuzzi Room" via Dayuse.com for a romantic daytime escape from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. We were envisioning champagne, bubbles, and a touch of luxury. What we got was an immersive experience in disappointment, and honestly, it was so bad it was almost educational.Let’s start with the grand arrival at 11:30 AM. I know we were technically two and a half hours late to our own 9 AM booking, but apparently, the room wasn't ready. No problem! There's nothing says "romance" like standing in a dirty lobby, watching housekeepers use the guest elevator as their personal cargo freight, while you contemplate the deep, philosophical meaning of "check-in time."After a lengthy wait, the Duty Manager graced us with his presence. With the magnanimity of a king pardoning a peasant, he offered us a 30-minute late check-out to compensate for the two-and-a-half-hour wait. A full 30 minutes! I was so overwhelmed by this generosity that I almost missed the irony. My advice? Don't hold your breath waiting for that extension, or you might turn blue.In a panic, I called the Dayuse contact center for help. The "help" I received was a masterclass in customer service apathy, culminating in them calling me a "bugger" and hanging up. Truly, the cherry on top of a very sad cake. Finally, we were granted access to the room. My first thought was that I had accidentally booked the "Harry Potter under the stairs" suite. The pictures online must have been taken with a fisheye lens from the 1970s, because the room was hilariously smaller than anticipated. And then, the pièce de résistance: the Jacuzzi. I was expecting a romantic whirlpool for two. What sat in the middle of the room was a large, hideous, white plastic baby pool. I’m not kidding. It looked like something you’d buy at a department store for a toddler to splash in on a hot day. Climbing into it felt less like a sensual experience and more like a cry for help.Feeling parched from all the disappointment, we called the restaurant to ask for two glasses. The response? "We do not send crockery to the rooms. If you want glasses, you must come to the restaurant and use them there." Fantastic! I love the idea of carrying my date through the lobby, into the restaurant, just to have a sip of water before scurrying back to our room.Luckily, we didn't have to make the trek because the room was already equipped with two disposable paper cups. Yes, paper. Nothing says "luxury love nest" like drinking your sparkling wine from a cup that has the structural integrity of a napkin. It felt like an insult aimed directly at the homeless, and by extension, us.And for those worried about privacy, fear not! There are no complete blackout curtains. So, if you enjoy the possibility of making eye contact with someone standing on the street while you're in your underwear, this is the place for you. It really adds to the "we don't care about you" ambiance.Overall, the Monte Carlo Inn feels like an old, tired hotel that has simply given up. It doesn't care about its guests; it just wants your money. If you are looking for a "real relaxing experience," do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. Or better yet, just stay home and fill your bathtub with cold water. It’s free, the glasses are probably better quality, and you won't have to deal with the baby pool in the middle of your living room.

They did not return my security deposit as promised in 3 business days and it’s almost 2 weeks already.

They did not return my security deposit. I was told it will be returned after 3 business days but it’s almost 2 weeks and I still didn’t get my refund. Breakfast included is bread, coffee and sliced watermelon. You need to pay extra if you want eggs and bacon.
