    Staff conduct and dining experience

    I stayed at this hotel for two weeks and overall had a decent experience, but one issue stood out. One male kitchen staff member (I think he's thr chef) appeared to spend most of his time walking around or sitting in the office area rather than actively working. He also seemed to be there from after 9am in the mornings until very late at night, especially on Fridays during their interesting entertainment events, which left many of us wondering what his actual role was for spending practically a whole day at work each day. Several guests noticed a major difference in the quality and effort put into the meals depending on who prepared them, and we consistently preferred food made by the other cooks rather than the chef. Unfortunately, this staff member also gave off an uncomfortable and unwelcoming vibe at times. I hope management reviews this feedback, as the rest of the staff provided much better service and care.

    Billing issue - very helpful

    We stayed at this hotel in early February and found it to be convenient to the highway as we were driving in from out of town. Room was clean and neat. Staff friendly and helpful .Our main thank you was about a billing dispute with another booking site that dragged on for a couple of months. Staff helped us resolve this in an efficient and helpful manner.

    Bad experience with front desk receptionist

    On January. 31, 2026 around 12pm, I had a very bad experience with the front desk receptionist named Trang. There was a confusion on my end amongst family members regarding a room upgrade, and I wasn't made aware of the facts. So I went to the front desk to inquire about it. The girl receptionist named Trang, was very rude and disrespectful towards me. Instead of politely informing me about the room upgrade policies. She snapped at me saying she already told my other family members the details and could not help me until a payment was made. I was unaware she already had contact with my other family members. Simply came down to clarify things and was met with a hostile attitude and unwilling customer service. Was flustered in the moment, apologized for my misunderstanding about the situation and went back to my room. A couple minutes later I came down to confront her about her attitude and the way she expressed herself towards me. She apologized by saying "Im sorry that was how I made you feel" which was very insincere. While I was trying to explain that her tone of Voice and attitude was not professional, she kept saying "customer is always right". To the Monte Carlo management whom might be reading this, Trang needs to be educated on customer service and hospitality. Customers are not always right, and they can make mistakes. However they do not deserve to be treated with disrespect and an unprofessional attitude.

    Rate a 5. Great place. stay here all the time. Has salt pool. Great rates. Freindly staff. And help full. Parking easy for handy cap. And room for handy cap people. With lots of room to be able to move arounf easy. By the elevators. . And shower not a tub.     ⸻Terrible Experience – Unfair Charges and Rude ServiceI booked a room at Monte Carlo Inn & Suites Downtown Markham through Booking.com early on Sunday, July 20th, around 6:40 AM in Toronto. When I arrived at the hotel, I presented my driver’s license and was told by the front desk agent that although a room was available, I could not check in until 3:00 PM unless I agreed to be charged an extra night — making it a 2-night stay, which was not what I booked.I explained that I didn’t want to pay for an additional day and asked to cancel the reservation. The front desk agent refused to help and told me that since I booked through Booking.com, I had to deal with them directly.I immediately contacted Booking.com, and while they said they would call the hotel to resolve the issue, the hotel insisted it was “too late” and still charged my credit card — even though I did not stay or use any services.The most frustrating part was the rude and dismissive attitude of the hotel agent. Instead of trying to find a reasonable solution or offer any kind of flexibility, she simply hid behind “hotel policy” and seemed more interested in charging me than helping a customer in good faith.Be very careful when booking this hotel, especially through third-party sites. I do not recommend Monte Carlo Inn Downtown Markham due to their poor customer service and unfair handling of reservations.
