Loud outside with no soundproofing and zero amenities

    rating26 Apr 2026

Wow loud outside! I asked in advance for quiet and got street side with a loose metal grate that is so loud and unsettling constantly when driven over. No soundproofing here as old and let be on that. They were friendly leading up to my arrival but was never told I had to go to bar to get key card and good thing my flight day didn't see me arrive after 11 pm! Or SOL I'd be!The no's too...No fridge No kleenexNo body wash even and a first ever and had to use sink hand soap!No kettle to just boil water and with two glasses for what?, tap water? Will be trying to switch rooms but trouble is on planning as to be out and away all day before Jays game and now a stress as am on zero sleep!645 am writing this and just hope I can manage the day on no sleep and frustration.Tv...so very old and small and with lines in the picture on every channel. On very last leg yrs ago!Apr 27.

    Great staff, very affordable.

Great location. Room small but clean. Good price. Space heater a little too warm but I turned it down. Mattress a tad on the too firm side. Just happy to have affordable place near the hospital. Staff are great! Club downstairs is very cool, with great music in the evening.

Rex Hotel - Secret Gem Of Toronto

    rating19 Oct 2025

Hotel Review: The Rex Hotel, Toronto – October 2025 Stay (Toronto Waterfront Marathon)I stayed at The Rex Hotel in October 2025 while in town for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, and I couldn’t have picked a better spot. The location is absolutely perfect — right on Queen Street West, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, shops, and all the downtown attractions. It’s also right on the streetcar line, so getting around the city is super easy. Even better, it was a perfect walking distance to both the marathon start and finish lines, which made race day incredibly convenient. This is a small, charming gem of a hotel with some of the best prices in Toronto for accommodations. Check-in was quick and friendly. The rooms are simple but well cared for, and the entire building was spotlessly clean. I had hot water every time I needed it, the TV worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning kept the room cool even during warm afternoons. It’s true that there’s no elevator, just stairs, but since the building is only a few floors high, it’s not an issue at all — much easier than navigating a massive high-rise.Here are a few extra things I loved:Live music every night in the downstairs jazz bar – fantastic atmosphere without being too noisy upstairs.Friendly, welcoming staff who genuinely seemed to enjoy their work and offered great local recommendations.Excellent breakfast options at the connected café – perfect pre-race fuel.Secure entry and a cozy, safe vibe even late at night, which made the stay feel comfortable and relaxed.Overall, The Rex Hotel exceeded expectations for a boutique, budget-friendly stay in the heart of Toronto. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city — especially runners coming for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon!

    Date weekend ♡

    rating01 Sept 2025

Date weekend in the City. We picked The Rex because it was central for walking and the very chill vibe. We had a room with a bathroom and it was all we needed. Very clean and the nostalgia was the best. All staff so lovely. Fairly priced for down town Toronto. The food was just ok at the bar. The band was very enjoyable. We had a great time!

    rating22 Aug 2025

hungry? for Toronto proper? when people looked you in your eyes.....Queen West, Simcoe Street - Let's GO!!! a 'boutique hotel', sic. no frills, no ego here; just an AMAZING spot, a B&B vibe. clean. purposeful. great breakfast! warm people work here....10-15 min walk to Scotiabank. Tyler the & L'il Yachty on my menu that nite. BUT WAIT!! imagine you get to hear the F*&%$*@ best Jazz band & imbibe the smoothest beverages in this city before OR after you get to hear the F*&%$*@ best music you came for. speechless, not speechless.
