  Untrustworthy-Unauthorized Billing and Excessive Security Deposit

  Recently, (January 2026) my husband and I stayed at the Waterside Inn in Port Credit. Upon check-in we were told that the onsite parking was closed and we'd have to park across the street in their off-site lot and that it would cost $15.00 a night. We questioned this since their website stated that off-site parking was free and the fellow behing the desk said that he'd waive that fee. Upon check-out the following day, I authorized a payment for $238.36 to be charged to my Visa. The next day when I checked my Visa I found that the transaction was posted for $254.18. My husband called the hotel and eventually, ended up speaking with the manager, Deya. She said the extra charge was for parking. When my husband complained that the website clearly stated that off=site parking was free and that we had been told that fee had been waived, she said she'd refund that to our Visa. That was 2 weeks ago and she never did issue a refund. Also, we found a $500.00 security deposit for one night at this hotel to be excessive, especially since ten days later, we stayed in a nearby Hilton suite with a security deposit of $50.00, free parking and a complementary breakfast for the same price. It's a shame, as we liked our suite at The Waterside Inn and the location and had talked about returning in the summer for a more extended visit. That will not be happening now, as we don't trust this management team!!!   The hotel is in a lovely location particularly if you are allocated a room with a balcony overlooking the lovely harbour and Lake Ontario. The balcony area is huge but it would have been nice to have some basic seating. The room itself very large with a vast amount of space for clothes etc. The decor is very traditional, perhaps dated in some areas, but it did feel rather grand. The log effect fire very cosy. The TV is small and housed within the fitted bedroom units. I feel work is needed to modernise such aspects. Housekeeping was excellent and there was a nice array of ethical toiletries in the bathroom. The bathroom is spacious and comfortable. I didn’t particularly like the coffee making machine being in the bathroom though. The hotel is seconds away from beautiful harbour walks and good shops and cafes. No restaurant at the hotel. Also the train line to Toronto downtown is an easy walk away. This hotel offers a more spacious and perhaps grander experience than staying downtown Toronto depending on budget allowance. Hotels in downtown Toronto are very expensive. The location of this hotel proved an excellent alternative choice to the higher priced downtown hotels. However, the hotel refundable deposit is a high one £275.00 and it takes approximately 10 days for it to eventually clear and refund to one’s bank balance. Overall this was a lovely hotel to stay at, comfortable, clean, beautiful views, idyllic location and yes I definitely would return.

  Weekend at Waterside Inn

  Friendly staff, parking is across the street, $14 per night. TV's are not smart, basic cable. Bring your own toilet paper, its very scratchy. Beds were comfortable, lots of pillows. No kettle or toaster in room, unfortunately. We felt safe staying there. Use the dead bolt for extra security. No on site eatery available.

  Horrible bed and Noisy!

  The room was nice. But.... The bed was like sleeping on a concrete slab and there was a band playing outside (which sounded like they were in the room). WAY overpriced for what we got.

  Broken refund promise, overpriced and outdated – very disappointing stay

  We stayed at this hotel July 31 – August 2, 2025, booked via Booking.com. The listing promised a balcony, but ours faced a loud ventilation system that made it impossible to use. There was no furniture on the balcony, the kitchen had very limited utensils, and the rooms and carpet were extremely outdated. For the high price, the quality was nowhere near acceptable.When I raised these issues, the female manager admitted the problems, confirmed there were no alternative rooms available, and explicitly promised a refund for two nights. Despite multiple attempts by both myself and Booking.com to contact the hotel, they have never responded or returned the money.This level of unprofessionalism and lack of communication is unacceptable. If you value honesty, professionalism, and getting what you pay for, I cannot recommend staying here.
