  Relaxing Break

  We stayed at this idyllic hotel for 3 nights during a tour around Quebec and after several towns and cities, it was a wonderful departure to get away from the crowds and into nature. The hotel is spread across a sizeable area, and across several buildings. The primary 'Inn' comprising reception, bar, restaurant, pool table, fireplace. There are separate lodges for hire, pavilions, a separate pool/wellness centre and a separate building catering for outdoor activities (fishing, canoeing etc). Overall, the site covers a large area but does not detract from nature surrounding it.Its is easy to walk between buildings and parking is available close to accommodation.We stayed in a Pavilion suite which was spacious and well appointed, with stunning views across the lake from the balcony. The room had everything for a comfortable stay - space, robes, fridge, sofas. It could have accommodated a larger bed (only Queen size) and a more comfortable mattress. The soundproofing in the room could do with improvement as noises (heating system, water, other guests) did not make for the best nights sleep.Arriving over a weekend in late May, the hotel was relatively quiet so the pool, jacuzzi, gym were virtually private. The spa had limited availability but worth booking in for treatments which were very good and reasonably priced.There are a range of trail walks around the property of varying difficulty and distance. Mosquitoes were a menace so covered clothing Deet are absolute essentials.One day, it was pouring with rain, so we curled up in front of the roaring fire in the bar area, with an excellent bottle of red wine, looking out across the lake and playing pool in the adjoining room.The food was surprisingly good. In fact, I thought it as excellent. Breakfast is standard buffet fair, the lunch was perfectly decent but the offering at dinner was first rate. A La Carte selections were good with options for 3 or 4 courses. The food was excellent - well presented, wonderfully flavoursome and plentiful - far better than I was expecting from such a rural location. The restaurant looks out over the lake, so a memorable dining experience. The staff are exceptionally friendly and made the stay even more memorable.I'm giving this a 5 star as it far exceeded expectations.A delightful and relaxing stay.   Beautiful grounds

  Sadly only here for 1 night. Beautiful grounds, our room 602 was on the ground floor facing out onto the gardens, this meant we had the shutters partly closed at all times as the area outside was very busy. Comfortable room with sofa and chair, bed also comfortable, huge bathroom. The lake was available for swimming, canoeing and we even sa a seaplane take off. Breakfast buffet average and don't expect to be served if you want tea! That's DIY!

  Lovely setting but lacking in atmosphere

  It’s a funny place, lacking a bit in atmosphere but beautiful setting. Stuff are hit and miss, some great, others less so. The Pavilion room we had was huge but actually not very practical, no hooks, nowhere to hang things. We ended up with wet clothes and it was a struggle to dry them and not even anywhere to hang towels so the room ended up a total mess with things draped everywhere. But it was comfortable and quiet although the window in the room didn’t shut (there was a mosquito shield). That said, I didn’t mention it to reception.Restaurant was good for lunch/dinner, good choice and lovely view over the lake. Breakfast wasn’t great, I found the choice poor, items weren’t restocked, it was fine and we didn’t have a choice but not brilliant.Activities, we went fishing, bear watching, kayaking and played tennis.   Small improvement needed to this beautiful facility

  Overall a very good stay in a beautiful place.To be improved : breakfast quality could be upgraded . Not at the level of dinner .Swimming pool: need to upgrade facility for aged people . We had to assist twice old women who could not get out of the pool alone. A simple addition of handrail could help.Nice staff , all gentles , in particular the manager of the equipment’s rental shop, professional and friendly.I found the landing and taking off of seaplanes right in front , amazing but may be dangerous for the people canoeing around.   Perfect peaceful serenity

  Wow, wow, what a stunning location and what a stunning hotel.Great reception team who dealt with us speedily, efficiently and very courteously despite our lack of French.Our bedroom was enormous, two huge beds, dinning table, large settee, well equipped tea coffee machine, fridge.Comfortable beds and pillows with nice linen. The bathroom was huge, stand alone roll top bath, two sinks and a large walk in shower. Towels and toiletries.The breakfasts are to die for, a proper buffet with staff service to sit you and bring anything one wanted. Dinner menu was imaginative and the quality of all the food was excellent.
