    Would stay again.

    rating18 Apr 2026

The room and hotel were clean, and the staff were very friendly. I didn't give this hotel a 5 because I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the outside areas. There was a beer bottle on the lawn in front of the hotel, and too many beer caps to count in the front and side area. We are smokers and found a small metal picnic table on the side of the hotel where there was a cigarette butt receptacle that was completely stuffed to the top, and cigarette butts all over the ground. There was also no ice machine on the second floor which is not a huge deal, but there is typically one on each floor in most establishments. Would still stay again due to the room and hotel being clean.

A two and a half star stay

    rating01 Jan 2026

While this was certainly a two-star experience, it’s worth noting that you generally get what you pay for. I’ve stayed at this hotel in the past and paid three times what I did on this recent visit.I checked in quite late at 11 PM. While the lobby was surprisingly busy, the front desk agent was friendly, professional, and very efficient. I’ve noticed consistently that all the staff here are wonderful, and they look great in their impeccable business casual attire.I stayed on the third floor. While the room was quite different from other rooms I’ve stayed in previously, it was clean had almost everything I needed, though there was no mini fridge. My only two concerns, both of which can be significant for many guests, were the noise and an “issue” with the deposit/refund system. From 11 PM until my departure at 9 AM, it sounded as if bowling balls were being dropped directly above me. It wasn’t loud music, laughter, or fireworks, just constant, extremely loud thumping and banging. I’m curious what the source was, but obviously, there’s little the hotel can do considering the building is over 100 years old and likely has wood-frame construction. While I hesitate to dock points for something largely out of the hotel’s control, prospective guests should know what to expect. The constant noise and vibrations were so intrusive that I didn’t get any rest, which is the honest truth. The other issue was the hotel’s credit card deposit system. I’ve stayed here before and used a debit card without issue, but this time I was told a credit card was required. I also noticed the front desk agent swiping my card before inserting it into the terminal, a practice I haven’t encountered elsewhere in Canada. I don’t see why there should be unresolved financial transactions days or weeks after checkout. While I understand the hotel doesn’t control how banks handle pre-authorizations, other hotels release the funds the same day. It seems the deposit here is never manually released, leaving guests’ funds tied up unnecessarily. In my view, with smoking now nearly obsolete, rooms prepaid, and incidental amenities minimal, the purpose of this deposit is unclear.Overall, while the staff are excellent and the room service adequate, these issues significantly impacted my stay. Prospective guests should be aware of the noise and the deposit process before booking.

Don't ever stay here on a Friday or Saturday

    rating25 Oct 2025

I booked this hotel because it was close to the conference I was attending. The hotel infrastructure and furniture are not great but not awful, maybe a 2.5-3 star generally, but it is right beside (I mean it shares a wall with) an extremely noisy night club that stays open until 3 am. My bed was right on the shared wall, and all night the room shook with the heavy bass and the music blared. Front desk staff just apologized and said they don't own the nightclub downplayed it, saying that it is only open Friday and Saturday. Adding insult to injury, I was charged the most $$ for my stays on the Friday and Saturday nights ($255 & $303 vs $199 on Sunday and $215 on Thurs). I recommend never staying here on those nights!
