Excellent staff, location but keep in mind this is a 2 star hotel

    rating21 Feb 2026

Location and staff are excellent but keep in mind this is a 2 star hotel in a busy noisy location. The rooms are slightly tired but very well equipped with fridge and microwave. Next door to Columbia sky train, pubs, eateries and convenience shops.

Grotty Location, Worst Part of New Westminster - Lots of Better Options

    rating30 Aug 2025

The Met is in a grungy part of New Westminster, with homeless and intoxicated people hanging out outside the hotel, plus shopping carts full of personal belongings, garbage and beggars as you step inside. Seemed like a good place to stay after a night of heavy drinking, otherwise not sure why you would pick this hotel.Had an awful experience with The Met. My husband's work booked a room for us for one night, but because of a discrepancy with my husband's first name we were refused our booking and lost the cost of the room. This has never been a problem in the many other hotels he has stayed for work, with exactly the same ID. We had to find last minute accommodation elsewhere which cost us a lot. Felt like we had been scammed. But relieved to leave the area. Hotel in a grim location.

I would give it a minus 10 if I could. AVOID!

    rating30 Aug 2025

Super seedy area of New Westminster. If you’re going to get robbed it’s here. To add to the experience the front desk guy was difficult and not accommodating . My boss booked Expedia with my normal name I use which is my middle name. The reservation was with my legal first name. I had the email of the booking, all my ID had my legal first name. I had a few pieces of ID with my middle name but not a photo. He asked if I had a passport on me. Yeah I am travelling from Victoria why on earth would I have that? He was asking for items he knows I wouldn’t have. So boss is unreachable on a Friday night at 8pm. He lost the money and I had to go and book last minute somewhere else and expense it. Avoid this place at all costs and this front desk guy needs to find a new job. He obviously doesn’t deserve to be in customer service. I understand the rules. He could have taken 20k hold on my credit card but he wouldn’t. Created a situation which didn’t have to happen. I was there doing a certification course which severely cut down on my time to study manuals. I had to screw around with this guy.

    New Westminster Hidden Gem

    rating19 Aug 2025

Tue Met in New Westminster is a hidden gem. Do not let the older building facade make you think otherwise. It is a small 4 floor hotel with around 10 rooms on each floor. Tye rooms are spacious, clean with a fridge in them and some rooms have a microwave. The bathroom is a decent size.Beds are comfortable as well. There are window uniot air conditioners in the rooms except for the too floor where they have the ones they are inside the room on the wall up above.I had two nights booked and then air canada went on strike. The staff at the front desk were very accommodating when I had to book Saturday night because of the strike. Kevin at the front desk didn't have me check out at 11 and check back in at 3, he had the room ready for me by 10am and I just moved rooms. Then I had to add Sunday which was not the same room and so Kevin went above and beyond to have the samething done for me seamlessly. Genesis who works the evening was another staff member who was also awesome like Kevin. I told him when I came in from being out thst I was adding Mon and Tue nights because if the strike still ongoing. He made a note of it on my current Sun reservation. Kevin and Genesis are terrific staff that have the best customer service and are really nice people. If it wasn't for them I might have had to keep checking out then check back in later all the time. There is no way these corporate chain hotels would be as accommodating. You can bet I will stay at The Met on future visits.

Soo close to the Expo line 25 min from Vancouver

    rating28 May 2025

Abashed at the two-day-of-wages hotels in central Vancouver we spread the net and found the met next door to the Expo train line exit. Met by the lovely Kevin, and getting a quaint clean and comfortable room at the rear on the fourth floor. It was lovely. Only minus was the unseasonably warm weather meant we had to use the somewhat noisy air conditioner. Also adjacent to the Howie sound pub- to which you get a discount voucher- good nosh.
