Excellent option for those willing to drive into downtown Victoria.

The “rubber duck” inn, a little away from the touristy James Bay area, but it’s just a short Uber or drive. It’s a pretty quiet motel-style Inn (upper floors have the elevator inside the lobby). We had a main floor, kitchenette room which was great, and a grocery store just down the road. The room had plenty of lighting options which was appreciated. The kitchenette was well equipped and the room had the possibility of adjoinment. The lobby had a great complimentary coffee and tea machine. There is parking in various places around the motel. They even have bicycles you can borrow to ride around on. There is a desktop computer in the lobby for guests’ use, and numerous seating options. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I made my reservation at this hotel two weeks before my stay, for one night and one person. When I booked, I was asked about my preferences, and I specifically requested a room on the third floor, at the back of the hotel, away from busy Maple Street. I made this request because, after a previous experience, I wanted to avoid street noise as well as the noise of people walking or stomping above my room.When I arrived, I reminded the receptionist that I had requested a third-floor room. However, without saying anything or explaining the change, the man at the reception desk gave me a key to an outside room, hidden behind a hedge and directly facing the noisy main road. This was completely contrary to what I had requested.I also felt very uncomfortable and insecure in this room. Around midnight, I heard something coming from outside my window. The next morning, while I was getting ready to leave, I briefly left my room door open. A man was then standing outside, less than a meter from my door, without moving, and appeared to be looking directly at my suitcase. I found this extremely unsettling.Overall, I was very disappointed. My specific room request was not respected, there was no explanation from the reception staff, and the location and circumstances of the room left me feeling unsafe. I would expect a hotel to take guests' room preferences and, above all, their sense of security seriously.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay has been incredibly disappointing.The walls are so thin that I could hear a baby crying constantly from the mext room, making it impossible to relax or sleep.When I called the front desk to ask if another room was available, I wasn’t met with empathy or an attempt to solve the problem. Instead, I was offered a “junior suite” on the ground floor—which turned out to be a room with a sofa bed instead of a proper bed—and he was dismissive rather than helpful.For a hotel charging these rates which in July 2026 was $450/night, I expected better soundproofing and better customer service. Instead, I was left feeling like my concerns were an inconvenience.I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable experience. Dirty rooms

We stayed here and had a kitchenette room. Our room was not cleaned properly prior to checking in. There was a used dirty towel on the back of the bathroom door. Inside the kitchen cupboards were disgusting, crumbs and the hardware was all rusted and FILTHY. There was grease on the wall behind the stove plate and coffee crumbs or dirt of some sort and grime in the cutlery tray. We were thoroughly disgusted by this establishment and the poor quality in room service. We were not offered a new room, we were offered clean towels, and when requested a late check of of Noon, we were denied. We will not return and are considerIng moving future reservations for another location (Vernon) to another hotel. Room was clean. Bed was good . had a good nights sleep. Choose back 9f hotel away from hwy. Nice that there was Kettle in room seperate from coffee maker. Fresh ground coffee machine in lobby for cofffe ,mochs,cappucino, and hot chocolate . Filtered water machune to fill water bottles and machine also gad hot water. Front staff freindly and very helpful have stayd here 4 times each time has been good.
