  Don’t stay here!

  - no flat screen tv set up- nonfunctional kitchenette, broken coffee maker on desk- bed was in the bathroom- no views, just roof- no overhead lights in room- room was dirty, cold, dingy- significant wear and tear: holes in walls, stains on carpet, peeling paint in tub, couch covered in stains, stains everywhere- the parking lot was apparently a block away but we never found the lot, after 30 minutes of driving in circles on a wild goose chase we determined it doesn’t actually exist- customer service was really bad Tony Guo, General Manager at Bedford Regency Hotel, responded to this review Hi SierrageThank you for your feedback.   We love the Bedford Hotel. Sure, it's old and very dated, but the location cannot be beat. Sisters and I go for one night every December to go shopping and enjoy the lively city which is lit up beautifully for Christmas. We love to look over Government Street and we are ok with the noise, (but you may want to bring earplugs). Beds are comfortable and staff is nice. Tons of great restaurants and pubs nearby as well as the Bay Centre Mall right across the street. No luxury or pampering here but we love it!!!   Ridiculously overpriced! The double room we got was $336 plus taxes $450. For what amounted to a little more than a dormitory!

  The whole experience was terrible from trying to get access to the lobby from Government the service and cleanliness of the entire hotel. A 2 star rating is higher than it should be.   With all the closed and one way streets and lack of street parking, I had to park in an open parking lot a few blocks away and carry my luggage. I have a Toyota 4runner which is not an abnormally large vehicle, however it did not fit in the underground parkade suggested by hotel staff and upon entry the alarms and lights went off and I had to back out and find alternate parking further away. The hotel was very warm and the a/c is basically non existent in most rooms. The toilet is separate from the sink and tub with a very narrow door. The tub faucet is confusing and there's no lever or button to turn on the shower- you just keep turning the main water on lever until it switches to shower. I called front desk to ask how it worked at first and they didn't know so they just offered to have me go down to the 3rd floor to shower in an empty room. Windows looked directly into neighboring hotel windows so had to keep the curtains closed. There is a "Kitchenette with stove" however they supplied zero utensils, plates, bowls, or pots and pans. All cupboards were empty not even a toaster. The coffee maker only makes 1 size of coffee and only has one button choice to press to start it, yet the cup provided was too small and so it overflowed and actually had to be emptied 3 times. Bed was clean but hard as a rock- my back was seized up in the morning. After checkout Credit card was overcharged by over an additional $800 and as of today have still not heard back from staff regarding a reversal. Front staff was pleasant while I was there in person. Front doors are locked after 6pm and key card is needed to return to lobby from street. In the morning there was drug paraphernalia outside front door, No fault of the hotel but indicative of the area it's in. I would not choose this location again.   Our stay at the Bedford Regent was a major disappointment — especially considering how expensive it was.The foyer had a strong musky smell, which immediately set the tone. While the room itself didn’t smell, it was still tired and outdated, with furnishings that looked like they hadn’t been refreshed in years. The hot water took over 10 minutes to come through, which made showering a frustrating experience.There was no lift access to our room, and getting there felt like navigating a maze straight out of Fawlty Towers — confusing, cramped, and poorly laid out.The hotel is right next to a pub that plays live music loudly until 1am, making sleep nearly impossible due to the thin walls and lack of soundproofing.Parking was good value, but came with a catch — after-hours access required a returnable fob, which was inconvenient and not clearly explained upfront.For the price we paid, this was terrible value. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, or comfortable stay.
