  Convenient downtown location!

  Excellent downtown stay! The location is perfect for exploring the harbour and local shops. Our room (428) was large with a stunning harbour view. We were pleasantly surprised to find free 24/7 laundry facilities on-site—a huge plus for travelers. Parking is free on Front Street, but definitely use the Church Street entrance to drop off your bags first, as the Front Street side has stairs and no ramp.   I would have given this hotel a higher mark, unfortunately, my experience at checkout was very disappointing and overshadowed the stay.I was traveling with a lot of luggage and I asked if someone could bring a luggage cart up to my room for checkout so I wouldn’t have to make multiple trips. I was asked to wait, but after some time I was told that no one was available to help. When I went down to the lobby myself, there were several people at reception, including one staff member simply standing idle, which made the refusal hard to understand. I have to go up and down 3 times. I was so stressed out that in my haste I even forgot my charger which was still in socket.Additionally, the body wash dispenser in the room was empty. Even after requesting housekeeping, this was not checked or refilled, which suggests a lack of attention to basic room details.Due to the lack of assistance and poor follow-through on simple requests, I would not recommend this hotel. Future guests may have a better experience at the Coast hotel located directly behind this property.   Only here for 1 night but served us very well. Centrally located with shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Room was decent size and very comfortable. Free parking round the corner in their own designated area. Lovely reception staff. Nice pub connected to the hotel. Nothing wrong at all with this place.   A nice hotel in a great location.

  After reading some of the negative reviews on here we approached the hotel with some trepidation . However our fears were unfounded and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were some negative points - the decor in the upper floors needs updating, signage around these floors also needs improving as it’s rather a maze and easy to take the wrong turn or stairs. Our room would only lock when we gave an extra pull on the handle and you had to hold the handle down on the toilet to fully flush it. However these minor issues were greatly overshadowed by the positive points. The staff were without exception extremely friendly and helpful. Special mention should be made of Snigdha on reception who went above and beyond to make our stay a happy one and we were very grateful to her. Secondly the location was extremely convenient for the harbour side in Nanaimo. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed with a lovely view of the sea. Finally the hotel parking was appreciated and very close by. We would stay at this hotel again if we were ever in Nanaimo.
