38 double rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Rebels against common sense and basic hygeine

We were really looking forward to this boutique hotel just outside Tofino, based not least on the positive reviews on here, but it was a huge disappointment with some serious problems which need addressing.It's slogan is "rebels against the ordinary". That's fine if the result works, but too much about this hotel is showy and performative and in combination, unsafe. We later stayed at a hotel in Banff which also sought to be different from 'ordinary' but quietly got the key 'ordinary' things right.The room layout is a mess and unhygienic, with serious public health issues. Wash basin/vanitory unit is in the room entry area. The wc is in a separate compartment with no handwash facility (in England, that is illegal under current building regulations). The shower is one huge tray separated from the room entry way by two curtains, so you've either drying in the the entry area or in the tray area.Housekeeping/cleaning was really poor, just the bed made up each day, wet towels left where they were, one day our nightwear was left on the floor. In conjunction with that wc/washbasin layout, door handles won't have been sanitised, certainly not daily and possibly not between guests. Not just sloppy, but a breeding ground for novovirus.We didn't use the restaurant, Roar, way too many food trucks and good eating places nearby and in Tofino. We spoke to a couple who did used the restaurant, best summarised as "ordinary food at rebelliously expensive prices". We seemed to have to swap out the coffee percolator each day which seemed excessive.Rest of the hotel was ok, though allowing people to ride bikes through reception is an accident waiting to happen.The good points were friendly front desk staff and that lovely inlet, we enjoyed the viewing platform first thing in the morning and at sunset when we had it to ourselves.But we'd really recommend avoiding this hotel until the problems listed above are addressed, including reconfiguring the bathroom layouts as that is a fundamental failing. Great place to stay for all.

Brilliant hotel. We didn't use all the facilities but suitable for all tastes and groups etc. Short drive from Tofino and walk from the main beach. We were 6 days into our holiday from the UK and were able to do some washing/drying for free. Good restaurant and bar. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Some quirky areas like accessing the games room by moving a particular book on the unit. Free filter coffee and milk. Plenty of parking and easy access off the main highway. Our experience was excellent. Couple with two kids. The lobby is incredible with a full sunken living room. We spent a ton of time playing cards and listening to good vibes. The beds are super comfy and the decors is super fun. There wasn’t a bath but the shower is huge!!! I would definitely come back. The only bad experience we had was dinner at “roar”. The hotelRestaurant. The server was amazing but we decided to treat ourselves with a crap platter and a rib platter. Unfortunately the crab was terrible and the ribs weren’t much better. The waiter did his best to accommodate us but in the end we weren’t happy. We would definitely come back but we would not spend our dollars at “Roar”. This place is vibrant, fun welcoming and friendly. The rooms are spacious spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff are exceptional and endeavored to make our stay as perfect as possible. The amenities are also excellent sauna hot tub and the views were great. I’d love to go back soon and stay longer??
