  This place is cozy and has smaller rooms than you’re used to. Not very noise friendly. There is no breakfast included but they do offer daily coffee and tea every morning and there is always lemon water on hand. Very close to the harbour. A few blocks walk. Walking the other way you’re also very close to the ocean walk on Dallas Road. You get what you pay for at this price. Roy is a gem!   A homely experience and great value

  Stayed here for 2 nights in August after staying after returning from an Alaskan Cruise.- Rooms are a reasonable size with comfortable beds but no air con which could be an issue on the few warm nights during the year. - There was no Breakfast provides, nut fresh coffee is available until 11 am.- Housekeeping is very efficient with daily service completed by lunch time.- Convenient location in the middle of a residential area, however it is not far away from the waterfront being a 15 minute walk.- We were a bit concerned with the pub being down stairs, however it was quiet at night and a great place for a meal and a beverage.- The top floors have an open area where you can enjoy a drink looking at the handsome cabs clip clopping below as well as meeting other travelers. - Service was homely and efficient. We were able to store our meal supplies in their fridge during the day prior to us leaving the island with no bother at all.Is this the paragon of luxury - no, but it provides a great location in comfortable surrounds at a good price.   Great Location for RVM Stay

  We were in town for the Royal Victoria Marathon and needed a place to stay close to the start/finish line. A friend of mine had recommended the James Bay Inn. It seemed to fit the bill, so we decided to book in.It was a lovely experience - it’s an old building full of character. The staff were awesome and helpful (you don’t get that kind of service at chain hotels). There is a pub and restaurant downstairs that serves tasty food and the inn is close to the Legislature, the museum, the wharf, and many neat shops/restaurants. Parking is free in the hotel’s parking lot. We stayed in a Petite room which served our purposes perfectly.We are coming back again in 2026 for the RVM and are hoping to get back in here again.
