  Changes but not for the good

  My husband and I have travelled to Tofino and stayed at Middle Beach Lodge specifically the "Beach House 6 plex" for over 30 years. We are seniors and have enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the Beach House because it is an adult facility ie the website states that children must be over 12years. During our 5 day stay we had an infant, toddler and two children 8 and 10. The family with the 8 and 10 year old were right below us. They screamed, argued with each other and generally made allot of noise. We asked the manager what was happening. We were told in a very rude snotty tone that "they were not obliged to inform us of any changes to their policies" and Middle Beach welcomed families. The family below us proceed to haul out their portable fire pit with a propane tank so the children could heat up their dessert and blasted us above them with heat and the smell of propane. We again asked the front desk if this was not a fire concern? No was the answer although we expressed our concerns for an open fire pit right below our balcony. The following day we did not receive our usual housekeeping service. The front desk said they forgot about us. RETRIBUTION for complaining the previous day?????Things are changing at Middle Beach with uncaring management, disrespect for long standing patrons, scorn for elderly patrons and being treated like they just don't care. That's how things are now at Middle Beach Lodge. It's with sadness that we bid them farewell and to never return.

  Location and ambience superb, great service and food but there are one or two question marks!

  Middle beach lodge has an incredible headland setting between two beautiful beaches. The forested backdrop makes it truly special. The room (we had a seaward facing one) was a little small but comfortable with a small, but good, bathroom with a walk in shower. Staff were helpful and friendly. The only downsides were the WiFi, which didn’t work in the bedroom at all, and was poor in other areas. We had a superb ‘tasting menu’ meal in Headland Lodge (part of the same complex) and the food was beautifully cooked. But when we went to pay there was a service charge of 15% which is fine until you are then asked for a tip! When an automatic charge is applied, you are not obligated to tip more. But if you do or are asked to you are adding a tip on top of a tip. Why do this as it spoilt our experience? We chose to opt for an extra 5% but that means our meal cost 20% more and the standard options were 15%, 20%!!! Coming from Europe where tipping is more optional and 10% is the norm the tip on top of a tip was a shock!! Elsewhere in Tofino this is not the case!?

  Nice Location But Needs More Improvements Specially the Breakfast.

  Location- 7/10 beautiful location in-front of the beach but needs more improvement with the way going inside there is no visible light. We arrived night time and its like a maze inside we even think were in the wrong location. So it was not good. Atmosphere- 8/10 very nice atmosphere very laid back. Rooms- 3/10 not good, dirty underneath and the cover sheets is worn out and it has holes. Theres lots of dust underneath of the bed. And the clothe thing in the bed under was detached and lying on the floor very dusty. The bedroom upstairs is not kid, old people friendly the stairs is very rigid and dangerous. Washroom is perfect, kitchen not good not free sponge for washing the dishes considering there has no dishwasher. Non negotiableCarpet- 3/10 its so dusty and dirty we've seen a lot of dogs hair and in the couch also. Non negotiable the utensils are not uniform it has different utensils in the kitchen. Value- 6.5/10 good for fall season but still its very expensiveNoise level- 10/10 perfectService- 6/10 its okay needs more improvements.Amenities- 4/10 This is where I was very disappointed with the breakfast. We thought that the breakfast will be different in each day but it wasn't. It was the same in each day so imagine if you stay there for a week and you eat same breakfast everyday? That's not good very poor. The boiled egg was cold take not the egg should be warm not cold! Mostly the food are cold not warm. Remember, breakfast should be warm to start your day. No bacon, no options for eggs, the basic breakfast are missing. Please take note of this because everything is not cheap it is expensive. So at least the breakfast should be very good.

  Stunning stay

  We had 2 nights here at the end of August, arrived and casually mentioned it was my birthday. The next morning there was complementary champagne from the lodge in our room - talk about surprise! Our suite room was incredible - and with views directly to the beach, with a porch and adirondack chairs. A unique feature layout feature is the open window from the bedroom to the bathroom - it would be amazing tub views - less fine to have "private" time. The breakfast was delicious - fresh made croissants, and fresh juices and fruit. Walking distance to 2 beaches. Such a stunning place, great customer service, and would definitely recommend staying here.

  Beautiful location in simple lodges with great beaches within walking distance

  The lodge has a truly lovely location between Mackenzie beach and Middle Beach with some amazing views from the front. Breakfast is self-service, simple and satisfactory. If you like walking- you can walk to Tofino - along a trail and to dinner at nearby Browns Social along the beach if you want. I would like to have given five stars but I think the hotel is performing just a little under its potential. The reason for the this is the staff who I didn’t feel were adequately trained or supported to do their jobs. With a focus on that- it could be truly special.
