    Overall good experience

Lovely spacious suite. Comfortable bed. Staff were helpful and friendly. We ate breakfast in the attached cafe and it was very good.

    An excellent surprise!

    rating26 Sept 2026

I have to say, that although the hotel needs to be updated, it was a great experience. We came to the hotel on a motorcoach and were greeted by a bagpiper. What a nice surprise! Its location is very convenient to the main drag. The kitchen was stocked with utensils, plates, pots and pans, coffee pot, toaster, kettle, medium sized fridge. A table and chairs alcove, large living room, and large bedroom. With very large windows in the living room and bedroom. Shower pressure was good, and beds were comfortable.

Welcome to 1976 — Please Bring Your Own Pillow

    rating22 Sept 2026

I’m giving 2 stars because:1. It’s close to downtown2. The rooms are actually quite largeAnd… that’s about where the compliments end.I was genuinely disappointed. First of all, the photos online are heavily retouched. This place has serious senior-living vibes. Honestly, the entire hotel looks like it was frozen in time somewhere in the 1970s.Check-in is strictly at 4pm, because apparently arriving earlier would disrupt the delicate ecosystem. Then comes the parking situation: $24 a day. I paid $94 CAD for parking for a 4-day stay and I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. I’ve stayed at plenty of big-chain hotels and never felt like I was being charged ransom for the privilege of parking as a paying guest. And before anyone asks — I paid $945 CAD for 3 nights in a ONE-BEDROOM. So yes, I had expectations.Walking down the corridor to the room, I was greeted by the lovely scent of musty air and dust. The carpet looked like it was chosen by someone who said, “Let’s go with something timeless.”And by timeless, I mean it hasn’t been updated since my great-grandmother was decorating her living room. Then I walked into the room and wondered, What on earth is that thunderous whirring noise?Lo and behold: three manual fans running full blast.Three.Apparently, central air conditioning was not part of the 1970s renovation package.I’ll give them one thing: the bed was comfortable. The pillows, however, had the structural integrity of two slices of white bread. Then came the housekeeping situation. If you miss housekeeping, you’re done for the day.I called to ask if they could clean the room later and was basically told, “Sorry, housekeeping has left.”It was 4pm.LOL. Okay. The next day, we took the “Do Not Disturb” sign off because we had absolutely no idea when housekeeping would arrive. Apparently, housekeeping operates on a mysterious schedule known only to the hotel gods. And when they finally did come? They made the bed, threw in some fresh towels and left. That’s it.The used cups, dishes and trash were still sitting in the room. At that point I honestly just laughed. What else can you do?By checkout, I was more than ready to leave. The front office staff member simply said, “Hey, you’re all good,” without even asking how my stay was.I was actually ready to give feedback. But maybe she already knew. I genuinely don’t understand how this place is still operating in 2026. Perhaps the glowing reviews are from guests who have been coming here since the 1970s and appreciate the nostalgia. If you’re looking for a large room close to downtown and don’t mind feeling like you’ve accidentally checked into your great-grandmother’s retirement home, this might be your place.Otherwise… manage your expectations. Very, very low.

80’s throwback but spacious and good location

    rating16 Sept 2026

Great space in our suite with a living area, dining area and kitchen,Plenty of storage too. Fantastic location easy walking distance to main area. Very dated decor, like an 80”s museum and the WiFi was non existent!! No AC so they had fans on when we arrived which as great but they were so noisy at night so we had to switch them off!
