    Great people, poor WiFi

    rating29 Apr 2026

The location is very convenient for getting to the Inner Harbour, sightseeing, shopping and transit. All of the staff were professional and friendly, from check-in, to M lounge, to housekeeping. A nice touch was when I arrived early to check in, the reception arranged to keep my bags for me while I went out, and offered delivered them to my room when it was ready. The only major issue was the WiFi. It didn’t work at all while I was in my room. It said was connected, but I was getting error messages that I had no wifi connection. Annoying when it’s advertised as an amenity, it should be reliable.

Serious Privacy Violation – Very Disappointing Experience

    rating16 Mar 2026

I am a Marriott Titanium Elite member and have stayed at many Marriott properties, but this was one of the most uncomfortable and intrusive experiences I’ve had.Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, hotel staff entered my room without my consent, later explaining that it was a “wellness check” required when a room has not received housekeeping service for three consecutive days. However, no attempt was made to call my phone, leave a voicemail, or contact me in any way before entering. In an era where every guest provides a phone number at check-in, this should have been the first and most basic step. Entering a guest’s room while Do Not Disturb is displayed is a serious violation of privacy.Additionally, I had requested and received towels directly the day before, and I had declined housekeeping at check-in, which contradicts the claim that my room had not been serviced for three days.To make matters more confusing, management later focused their response on the presence of my service dog, asking me to confirm if I was traveling with a dog. However, my service dog was present with me at check-in, so it is unclear why this suddenly became a concern or why it was brought up after the unauthorized entry. What was most disappointing was the response from Danielle Powell, Director of Operations, who repeatedly justified the situation rather than offering a sincere apology for the intrusion. The tone of the communication felt confrontational rather than customer-focused.Overall, this hotel is a very poor representation of the Marriott brand. Privacy and respect are fundamental expectations when staying at a hotel — especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is clearly displayed. Unfortunately, that basic expectation was not respected here. Michelle Le Sage, General Manager at Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour, responded to this review Dear Sn0wM0nster,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your loyalty as a Marriott Titanium Elite member. We are very sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling that your privacy was not respected, as this is certainly not the experience we want any guest to have while staying with us.Our hotel follows a safety protocol that requires a visual wellness check after several consecutive days without a full housekeeping service. These procedures are in place to support the wellbeing of both our guests and our associates. The process should always be carried out with clear communication and consideration for the guest experience. From your comments, it is clear that this did not occur in this case. Reaching out to the guest first is an important step whenever possible. We regret the confusion surrounding your service dog. Service animals are always welcome at our hotel. We simply ask that they are registered with the front desk so our team is aware, which helps ensure the comfort and awareness of both our guests and staff. We are sorry that the tone of the communication you received did not feel guest focused. Our intention is always to acknowledge concerns with professionalism and respect. Please know that we are currently conducting a full review of our wellness check procedures to ensure the policy is being applied appropriately and communicated clearly to our guests.Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. Your feedback is important and helps ensure our policies and service approach reflect the level of care our guests expect.

    Great location and facilities

    rating14 Dec 2025

Using both Marriott points and cash, I booked one night at this hotel so we could visit Butchart Gardens to see the Christmas light displays. Our suite was a corner room located on the 12th floor overlooking a corner of the Parliament Building between a condo and a building under construction. The unit had an outside deck but not used as it was too cold to go out. The unit was very spacious with a closet near the entry and one of two doors going into the bathroom. The room opened up to a dining area with dining table and four chairs and living room with an ‘L’ shaped sofa, two table lamps, an alcove with microwave, tea/coffee maker, bar sink and a small refrigerator, and a wall mounted TV. Off the living room was the master bedroom with a very comfortable king bed with side tables on either side, a chest of drawers on which a TV sat and a love seat at the base of the bed. The bath, accessed from both the bedroom and entry hall had two sinks with mirrors above each and a separate room with a large walk-in shower, a bathtub and toilet. Lighting was good and heating was good. Blackout curtains could cover all windows although closing the curtains behind the sofa took some doing given limited space. We used the M Lounge on the first floor for an evening happy hour and breakfast. The rooms have no windows and limited wall art making it rather dull compared to other M Lounges we’ve visited. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking to shops on Government street, the BC Museum, the Empress Hotel and the Black Ball Ferry dock which serves Port Angeles, Washington. From the various ferry landings to the north, it’s a direct route on Highway 1 to reach the hotel.Overall impression was such that when we return to Victoria to spend the night (s), this hotel will be our destination.

Huge ugly building construction blocks most views

    rating16 Nov 2025

We are Gold Elite members who were celebrating a special occasion, as we informed the hotel when we made our reservations. We were able to have an early check-in around noon, and we were upgraded to a room on the 12th floor. The room was very clean, including the bathroom. It is not particularly large. Unfortunately, a giant and hideous new building blocks most views from the Marriott as well as next-door hotels. Such a shame. We visited the restaurant several times for dinner and happy hour. The food was very good and service was prompt and friendly. The portions were generous. We had a large salad, delicious lamb, burger, and happy hour appetizers of calamari and wings. One morning I came down for coffee and was advised that there was self serve coffee in the restaurant. I pumped 2 cups of regular black coffee and then was given a room charge bill for $10. The server said that the hotel does not provide any free coffee, which really surprised us.There is a nice indoor pool and hot tub, as well as some gym equipment. Location is very convenient to Inner Harbor and bus transportation. All in all, I am not sure that we would stay again, unless the rate was very competitive. For this trip, we did use a free night award that was about to expire, so I suppose it was worthwhile.
