Nice central hotel in downtown Whitehorse.

    rating16 Mar 2026

Close to shopping, museums & tourist sites. The hotel room was clean and comfortable bed. The bathroom was small with no space for a toiletry bag because of the large above counter sink that took all the space. The restaurant was good for breakfast, supper was a bit overpriced.Limited seating for a lounge area. Abdullah Tasin, Guest Services / Front Office at Best Western Gold Rush Inn, responded to this review Thank you for your 5/5 review and for choosing Best Western Gold Rush Inn.We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed our central location, with easy access to shopping, museums, and local attractions, as well as your clean room and comfortable bed.We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the bathroom layout. We understand that the above-counter sink can limit usable space, and your comments have been noted as part of our ongoing considerations for future upgrades and renovations. We’re also glad you enjoyed breakfast at the Gold Pan Saloon, though we regret that dinner pricing did not fully meet your expectations. Feedback like yours helps us evaluate both value and portion offerings to better align with guest expectations, especially in a market like Whitehorse.Additionally, we acknowledge your note about limited lounge seating and will take this into account as we look at improving our common areas.Thank you again for your detailed feedback and kind rating. We look forward to welcoming you back for another comfortable stay.—Abdullah TasinFront Office SupervisorBest Western Gold Rush Inn

Very helpful staff in a charming hotel that's not as huge and corporate as some

We spent 3 nights at the Gold Rush and enjoyed it very much. We had a snafu with our arrangements, so we had to book at another hotel for the last few nights. The management and staff at Gold Rush were very accommodating and helpful getting us to a new place.I would recommend Gold Rush Inn for a nice Yukon experience that's not as corporate as some of the others, very comfy and welcoming. Danielle Pfeifer, General Manager at Best Western Gold Rush Inn, responded to this review Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a kind review of your stay with us.We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time at the Gold Rush Inn and that our team was able to assist you during an unexpected change in your plans. Our goal is always to be as helpful and accommodating as possible, and it’s wonderful to know that our staff made a positive difference for you.We truly appreciate your recommendation and your kind words about the welcoming, comfortable atmosphere of our hotel. Providing a genuine Yukon experience is something we take great pride in.We hope your travels went smoothly after your stay and that we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future.

Horrible, noisey, not clean, dated and staff that do not communicate or assist with issues. Do not stay.

    rating31 Dec 2025

We stayed here twice, once mid December and once at the end of December. Checking in was an issue. They were unable to locate either of our bookings. They then found them and were mixing them up with our later booking. The staff were rude and indignant and less than helpful. Moving on, we got to our rooms. The first stay, our room had 2 doubles in it, with absolutely no room to move. Only 2 cups were provided, the smell to the room was average. It was tolerable for the one night. We were travelling as 2 seperate parties. Upon checking out we made sure that our rooms were together/on the same floor and we guaranteed that we would be for our return in 4 days time. Upon checking in, we were on different floors. The staff did not care. The ‘family suite’ was anything but family friendly. The toilet not even bolted to the floor, it moves 20cm either way when you sit on it! Upon entering the room we were met with the stench of cigarette smoke, and excessive heat, as a floor heater had been left on and it was 29 degrees in the room! We opened the windows to get the smell out and cool the room down. The floor was still littered with previous guests rubbish, benches had grime, dust and food stuff uncleaned from them. The fridge was surprisingly clean! The couch has white stains on it, use your own imagination there. Peeling back the bed sheets revealed multiple strands of hair….we had not been in the bed! Add to this, the arctic gear we had hired and paid for 8mths ago, was not delivered to the hotel. The hotel reception were no assistance, and would not assist in calling or trying to source the missing equipment. They seemed completely out of their depth with how to manage issues. We requested a taxi be called, went back down, and once again, it had been forgotten…making us late for another appointment. The hot water in the shower took a good 10 minutes to start to come through. When reported to the front desk, they said no one could look at it until the next day. We had words, and they had someone look at it who said it was fine. Overnight, if you intend to sleep, bring headphones. It’s so bad the hotel provide ear plugs (only 1 set per room, so survival of the fittest). Constant noise outside the room at all hours of the night, talking, yelling, swearing….and the constant smoking explained why the room smelt of cigarettes! It was so bad I needed to move to another area. Add to all this, the carpet is stained, the walls damaged and stained, the tiles broken and more! Finally my wife was handed a letter cancelling our tour for that day, the morning of the tour…dated the day before. We had been at reception multiple times, and at no point did they give us the letter advising of the cancellation, they had ample opportunity, and no attempt was made to contact us, take it to our room, or advise us. In actual fact, they forgot to give us the letter at the desk, and called my wife back from up the stairs. Book at your own risk! We will not be back, and do not recommend it to anyone! Do not expect any level of customer service, comfort or cleanliness. Best western, lift your game. **Hats off, well done to the lady from Northern Tales Tours who tried to assist with the missing clothing, and hotel issues, despite it not being her problem or responsibility. She went above and beyond. Danielle Pfeifer, General Manager at Best Western Gold Rush Inn, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to address some of the concerns raised.Your stay occurred during a period of extreme Arctic temperatures (–40°C), which unfortunately impacted many aspects of travel throughout the region. During these conditions, our priority is protecting guest safety and preventing damage to the building. In some suites, supplemental heaters are required to keep pipes from freezing, which can result in warmer room temperatures. Windows should not be opened during these conditions, as doing so risks frozen pipes and loss of hot water — an issue that affected multiple properties citywide during that time.Regarding tour cancellations, cold-weather gear rentals, and transportation logistics, these services are arranged and managed entirely by your tour operator (Jonview) and their local partners. The hotel does not receive advance control over tour schedules, weather-related cancellations, or clothing deliveries and acts only as a point of message relay when notified. During extreme cold, tours across the territory were routinely cancelled at short notice based on safety assessments. We understand how disappointing this can be, but these decisions are outside of the hotel’s control. We regret that you felt communication and service at the front desk fell short. This is not the standard we aim to provide, and your feedback has been shared with our leadership team for review and coaching.Cleanliness concerns are taken very seriously. When issues are reported during a stay, our team is always willing to re-clean or relocate guests where inventory allows. We encourage guests to notify the front desk immediately so concerns can be addressed in real time.As a downtown property, some ambient noise can occur, particularly during peak travel periods. Complimentary earplugs are provided upon request for guest comfort. We appreciate your acknowledgment of the Northern Tales Tours representative who assisted you — collaboration between tourism partners is important, especially during challenging weather conditions. We regret that your stay did not reflect the experience we strive to deliver and understand your decision. Your comments have been reviewed internally to help us continue improving our communication and guest support.
