URGENT: Formal Complaint – Family Trapped in Elevator, Emergency Rescue Required

    rating08 Feb 2026

Dear Hotel Management,I am writing to formally file a serious complaint regarding a dangerous and extremely distressing incident that occurred during my family’s stay at your hotel from February 7 to February 9, during which we occupied rooms 1705 and 1706.My wife, two sons, and I arrived at approximately 4:00 PM and received our room keys without issue. However, when we entered the elevator to travel to the 17th floor, the elevator suddenly stopped around the 9th floor and became completely non-functional. The doors would not open and no controls worked, leaving us trapped inside. My wife began experiencing severe fear and panic due to claustrophobia. I immediately contacted the front desk requesting urgent assistance. I was told only to wait. I called again to explain that my wife suffers from claustrophobia and panic attacks and that the situation was escalating, yet I was again told that the elevator service company might arrive in approximately 20 minutes. No emergency services were contacted by hotel staff, and the seriousness of the situation was clearly not treated with appropriate urgency. After being trapped for approximately 30 minutes and fearing for our safety, we called 911 ourselves. The fire department arrived quickly and rescued us from the elevator. My wife was crying, my children were extremely frightened, and as a father I felt completely helpless during the ordeal. What was equally disturbing was the complete lack of care or professionalism shown by hotel staff afterward. No one checked on our condition, offered assistance, or provided any apology or support following a traumatic incident. The experience ruined our planned family weekend, as my wife was too afraid to use the elevator again and remained confined to the room for the remainder of our stay. This situation reflects serious concerns regarding guest safety, emergency procedures, and customer care. I expect a full written explanation of how this incident occurred, why emergency services were not contacted immediately by staff, and what steps will be taken to ensure such negligence does not happen again.Given the severity of the experience and the lasting emotional distress caused to my family, I am also requesting appropriate compensation and a full review of our charges for this stay. Please treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves. I expect a prompt response within a reasonable timeframe.

If the Rosebud Motel and a horror movie had a baby…

    rating08 Dec 2025

I’m honestly not sure whether to give the Best Western Windsor one star or a standing ovation for creating the most unintentionally hilarious hotel experience of our lives. Think “Rosebud Motel from Schitt’s Creek,” but without the charm, the quirky characters, or any of the small-town wholesomeness. What we got instead was a full comedy-horror crossover. The bathroom alone could win awards. The bathtub paint was peeling like it was trying to escape the premises. Mold was thriving in every corner - behind the peeling wallpaper, around the faucet, even under the spout. My personal favourite discovery? Mystery pubic hairs on the ceiling of the shower. I don’t want to know how they got there. I just respect the athleticism. The bathroom fan gave us a proper jump scare every single time we turned it on. Loud, violent, and dramatic, like starting up a lawn mower in a closet. Even when you braced yourself for it, it still got you.The bathroom tap didn’t pour water so much as launch it sideways across the counter. We had to keep a towel there permanently, as if we were managing a small indoor flood. And then there were the sheets. Nothing says “sweet dreams” like finding small blood spots on your bedding and having to ask for replacements only to find long hairs tucked within the new set. Perfectly on theme for our comedy-horror suite. The 1970s red carpet featured a generous sprinkle of white powder along the edges, which we optimistically assumed was insecticide. The alternative explanations were not something I wanted to unpack while barefoot. We traveled with a few other families, and every single one had their own list of “features.” It became a running joke. “What did your room come with? Mold? Exposed mystery substances? Door damage from a fist fight? A plumbing surprise?” No one struck out.And to wrap things up, there was no complimentary coffee available anywhere in the hotel in the morning. None. Sure, there were Keurigs in the rooms, but anyone who’s ever opened one knows those things double as mold incubators, so that was a firm no.Overall, this wasn’t just a bad stay, it was a full-blown adventure. If you enjoy peeling fixtures, jump-scare fans, surprise fluids, mold art installations, and enough maintenance issues to qualify for a reality show, you’ll love it here. If not, I’d genuinely sleep in my car first.

Staff on strike and its evident

    rating29 Jul 2025

Staff are on strike and it is evident. Gym and pool are closed, you can walk through the restaurant in gym clothes / bathing suit and the double tree will allow use of their gym and pool. Holiday inn up the road is great for comparable price

Not the worst but far from the best.

    rating25 Jun 2025

Wasnt the worat place I've stayed but there were a few inconveniences. There is an ongoing labour dispute, the toilet paper rolls were empty, I called down to the front desk and there was no answer so I ventured down and asked for some to which they handed me 2 rolls. The room was pretty clean but out dated.. 70's vibe. The only issues we really had was that we had to call for garbage removal, fresh towels and the black out curtains .. when you pulled them shut they didnt meet in the middle .. like whoever installed them didnt measure twice. There was constant security in the lobby and I figured out why later when I was approached by a crackhead with a dress that was very short looking for a lighter lol.. also when I got my receipt there extra charges like the municipal accomodation tax.. wth is that?.. Pool was closed but we were able to use the pool at the double tree next door. Aside from all that ... the room was decent and comfortable.. excellent view of the river during the fireworks. Friendly Staff as well.
