    Mixed Review 3 night stay in Chatham Ontario

    The location is close to downtown Chatham and adjacent to the casino which has a full service restaurant and bar. The hotel provides a full complementary daily breakfast which is excellent and the public areas are clean, well staffed and comfortable. We booked a room with 2 queen beds however we picked up brown ticks from the beds and pillows. Since the hotel is dog friendly, ticks can transfer from the animals to the beds and brown dog ticks can thrive for a long time in bedding and mattresses. We had to seek medical attention since we found a total of 4 ticks on the 2 occupants and were unsure of the possible health impacts of tick bites. I would suggest that the hotel reserve some rooms that are dog free similar to the smoke free rooms

    They are renovating the hotel .No disturbance to guest.WOW nice upgrade.We have stayed in the Caldwell Suites part.The staff is all great very knowledgeable and happy to help.Rooms are perfect big fridge and cook top. Breakfast is great with a good selection. Location is right next to the casino. I can't say enough great things about the staff.Thanks for a great stay.Gerry and Donna

    Old dirty and run down!

    The place was old and dirty. The shower leaked water, and the place was loud all night long. We were woken up early as well. Wall paper was coming off the walls as well. The breakfast was pointless. Everything was cold and no bacon. The sausage was just gross. On top of everything else the elevator not working. Seriously dont waste your time going to this hotel!     Dirty, dirty, dirty hotel. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels for hockey tournaments and this is one of the dirtiest I almost stayed in. Upon arriving into the first room (507), the hallway was filthy and smelt like weed. The room floor was full of crumbs and there was white stain of something whiteish on the bed skirt. I went down to ask the guy for a different room. He then proceeded to give me room 302. Upon arriving into this room the hallway carpet was filthy, the walls were stained and a microwave was sitting on the floor in front of the door. We entered the room. There was a bad smell, couch was stained and when I pulled back the comforter there were yellow stains on the sheets. I was disgusted. Went back down and told the guy we wanted to leave and would not stay there. He said the hotel is not dirty. I said then I’m not sure what your standards are for cleanliness but they are obviously not the same as mine. I told him an old microwave was sitting on the dirty floor. He said they remove it for cleaning. He said he could have cleaning staff go up and have a look but they were all gone for the day. I told him he lied to me about the microwave and admitted that he had lied since cleaning staff were all gone. I get it’s under renovations but they would have to maintain some cleanliness. This is definitely not your typical holiday inn express standards especially for the price they are asking. Please do not stay here if you have any standards for cleanliness. Book downtown at the retro suites.     If you are exploring Chatham-Kent and need a place to stay this is a pretty good hotel.Friendly staff and a clean room. We didn’t use any of the hotels amenities. They do serve breakfast in the morning. We grabbed a banana and coffee, so I’m not able to write about the breakfast quality.I would stay at this hotel again.
