    Friendly staff has adequate English language to provide services for foreigners. Breakfast was included in our rate and was an excellent spread. Room was well equipped and clean. The only complaint was the internet access in my room - not useable. My other colleagues had no issues - my room's location (at the end of the hall) may have been an issue. Please re- boot the router!

    Hotel is close to the beach and from my room I had beach view. Breakfast was really good and the room was spacious and clean. Parking was easy and staff was very nice.However, my rating was lower because I did an astronomy tour and arrived late back and water in the bathroom was out. It was after midnight, I was tired and with pandemic concerns. That did happen in the night before, but I was just going to the bathroom during the night so I forgot about it, but this is unacceptable in a hotel.

    Every hotel can have technical issues and it’s quite understandable. I was stuck in a lift of an Holiday Inn a few months ago but the reaction of she staff was really outstanding (see one of my previous reviews)… but in this case, the Hotel Diego de Almagro just informed when trying to check-in they could not give any room because they had no water supply due to some technical problem. In the meantime, the reservation is still confirmed in booking.com and I won’t be surprised the daily rate will be charged anyway, as no communication has been sent by the hotel to booking.com. A lack of professionalism but also a total disrespect for their guests. If you book there, be sure to have a plan B, as you will not get any email / phone call if the confirmed accommodation is not available anymore… or just bring your own bucket of water :-) diegodealmagroLS, Gerente at Hotel Diego de Almagro La Serena, responded to this review Dear guestWe are very sorry for the inconvenience that happened when you arrived at our hotel, we actually had a major problem in our water network that we communicated to all the guests that we could via telephone before their arrival, unfortunately in their case when being via Booking, there´s no way to communicate directly with you to inform the problem, even when we only call to make sure you are aware of the situation febore you arrive. In the same way we received all who had their check in with us because the damage had to be corrected on the same day, which happened, so it amazes me that you could not enter our hotel. Especially since at the time I think you tried to check in, we already had the service restored. Not at all is our act with our guests to make them feel little welcome and all who stayed with us at that time received from us all possible facilities to avoid discomfort. Again I apologize to the case. I will review in detail why what you mentioned happened. I tell you anyway that we do not generate any charge with respect to your reservation.Best regards

    Perhaps not your best choice in La Serena

    I stayed here several nights as part of an eclipse tour package and have a number of problems with this hotel. I like orange juice at breakfast; but they actually served sugar-sweetened orange drink. Bad! The breakfast itself was fair given this is not an expensive hotel. We had catered meals which were also just fair. We ran into other guests in the lobby who chose to eat out rather than have a meal there.Second, there was usually maybe one English speaker at the desk so it was difficult getting help. And if you called down to the desk; you were often on a long hold if you wanted help in English.In our case, the phone in our room did not ring when called so we could not get a wake-up call. These were not fancy phones with extra buttons, but rather a common everyday phone that could be easily replaced. They said they would take care of it but nothing was done after 2 days. I finally took the phone to the reception and asked them to get a replacement, maybe from an empty room. They did nothing. THIS IS NOT SERVICE!!!There were also no wash clothes, hand cream, or tissues as others have noted here. The hotel offers an exercise room, but it is limited to exactly 3 machines with no weight machines nor free weights. Bottom line, I WOULD NOT RETURN.     Dear Hotel Staff, I cannot say enough good things about this place. Our room was stunning, spotless, tons of HOT water and great water pressure. Beautiful views, and the best part... amazing staff! Everyone at this hotel was so incredibly kind and nice. Our favorite staff member was Armando in the restaurant (shown). What a gentleman! Thank you Hotel Diego de Almagro, we will come back and visit soon.
