    Tired and a bit tatty

    rating11 Jan 2025

Very convenient stopover on our way to the elqui valley. The beds were camp beds, bathroom door had damp damage, all felt a bit faded. Nice staff and restaurant had a view of the sea. Convenient parking. Tiny pool with all the loungers occupied.

    Beautiful Beach Views

    rating30 Apr 2024

Very nice hotel, excellent views from room. Bedroom nice. Breakfast was very complete. Although it was cold season room had heater, the shower was nice and hot. Lots of drinking water available in chilled or hot dispensers on each floor. Restaurant was pricey but daily specials were good.

    OK. Not 4*

    rating18 Jan 2024

Average hotel, certainly not 4*. Rooms are dated but clean. Bed was like a bouncy castle which I found really uncomfortable. Shower worked well. Pool area is decent with a full bar and snacks but no table service. Breakfast is a buffet affair. Again, ok but not 4*. Service was fine but do the online pre check in admin online to avoid a lengthy check in.

    Smiles cost extra

    rating01 Oct 2022

I selected this hotel on the basis of reviews but was really disappointed. Firstly, the good things. The hotel is well located on the beach at La Serena and I think most rooms have a sea view. Secondly, the staff were helpful in loaning me some electricity adaptors as they only have the older plug sockets for which I didn’t have an adaptor. The showers are really nice Now the bad points. The staff are not very friendly. They prefer to communicate by WhatsApp rather than face to face. There is a real “smiles cost extra” vibe. Check-in is ridiculously late at 4pm. I have travlled the world and never experienced such a late check-in. Rooms are OK but basic. The breakfast room is just depressing and looks like it was designed for coach parties. The food was basic and I was shouted at for not wearing my mask. Well, of course not, because it is necessary to remove your mask so you can put food in your mouth. Plus I was sitting outside. I didn’t bother going after the first morning as the food wasn’t worth me being hassle again. Just be aware that the city centre of La Serena is at least a 30 minute walk. Taxis are a bit unreliable, especially first thing in the morning if you need to get to the bus station.Would I stay here again? No. Juan Carlos Henríquez Romero, Propietario at Hotel Club La Serena, responded to this review Hello Nesbitevans, we greatly appreciate your time in letting us know your opinion, we will work to improve what you mention. Close to the beach but careless staff

    rating15 Jan 2020

We stayed here a couple of nights for a quick vacation getaway. We had asked about dairy free options for food allergies and the staff assured us they could accommodate the changes. The first night we ate at the restaurant they had put butter on the bread even though we asked a few times and they assured us it would just be plain bread. Then when we pointed out the butter the waitress said “oh, solo es un poquito” - meaning “oh, it’s just a little bit”. LOL then we asked for tea and they brought us a pot but no tea and we had to remind our waitress. The restaurant wasn’t packed, the waitress was just very forgetful and careless. Then we ate breakfast the next day and one worker named Cristobal was the only one who was willing to help us if we needed anything- he even went out of his way to see if they would serve us anything different as the breakfast was very dairy packed. Despite his efforts to help us which we appreciate very much, his manager said that they shouldn’t have to accommodate us and that he should not have helped us out with some “palta” “avocado” for breakfast. This is absolutely ridiculous. I applaud the worker for trying and for accommodating a very minor addition, and I do not appreciate the manager scolding him for being hospitable- this is what a hotel is for ... hospitality. We also had another issue with the steps being very wet going up to the elevator. My husband fell and a housekeeper saw him and just kept going, did not even stop to see if he was okay. I was carrying my two year old and am 7 months pregnant so that couldn’t have been me and when we brought it to the attention of the front desk that a sign should be placed, they acted nonchalant about it and like there was nothing wrong with what happened! This was such a frustrating stay, the staff is terrible- (minus the one person I spoke about earlier). No one is hospitable, they don’t care about customer service and should be replaced by workers who care about their jobs and aren’t there to do the bare minimum for a paycheck. Terrible, terrible experience. Outside of the hotel, people are very nice and hospitable. DO NOT STAY HERE- if you are a tourist, find a different place with better hospitality values. I would not recommend this place.
