Location

The hostel is a real classic and definitely the best hostel in the trendy Lastarria, close to the Forest Park and Museum of Fine Arts. Its unique location, close to transportation, local attractions, cafés, restaurants, parks, museums, bars and clubs, makes it a perfect place for a safe stay in Santiago.

Facility

The hostel was built in 1912. 18 rooms are available. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Film fans will find plenty of 'lights, camera, action' at the cinema. The grounds of the hostel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (no extra charge). Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Rooms feature a kitchen and a bathroom. Individually adjustable heating ensures comfortable temperatures. Some rooms include a balcony. Rooms include a double bed. Valuables can be securely stored in a safe. There is a fully-equipped kitchenette with a stovetop, microwave, tea/coffee station and oven. There is also a washing machine and an ironing set. A telephone and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. The bathrooms have a shower and a bathtub. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms guarantee guests with limited mobility a carefree stay. The hostel has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

The sports and entertainment facilities at the hostel ensure that guests have plenty of activities to choose from during their stay. A sun terrace is a great place to while away the hours. There are many ways to relax or stay active at the hostel, including cycling/mountain biking, a gym and billiards.     Bargain price, good value, relaxing stay

    We took a private room with bath, which was a good choice for us. It was also nice to have the other bathrooms available in case ours was occupied. The room was small but comfortable. A luggage rack would have been nice, but we managed to use chairs and tables, and also the closet. There is no air con, only a fan, but we opened the window at night and it cooled off sufficiently. The common areas are very clean and the staff are wonderful. Anything you need they will help with, from information, maps, laundry service, or just a conversation about local life or a restaurant recommendation. The desk staff do speak English, but not necessarily the others. Google translate makes everything easy. Breakfast is very good and fresh. They keep a hot pot of water for all day tea. The kitchen can be used after breakfast time by any guest. Location was excellent - easy to walk to the main plaza/square, and many attractions, restaurants, groceries, pharmacies, etc. We used Uber to go further afield, such as the Museum of Memory and Human rights and other museums in that area (all free!). You can walk to the free tour (tips of course are expected) of the central area - well worth it! ask at the desk.The only con is that they allow smoking on the tiny outdoor terrace, and all the smoke comes into the common areas. As someone allergic to tobacco, I simply had to leave the area whenever a guest lit up. I'm astonished really that young people are still taking up this foul habit, enriching old white men in America with their addictions. Oh well, that isn't the fault of the hostal; I just wish they'd stop allowing smoking. The outdoor area is not huge, just a couple of tables so if a smoker is there, it becomes their space. Overall I'd stay there again; being in the "cool" neighborhood and easy walk to everything else was well worth it. Staff make it all great.

    Stayed at Hostel Forestal for 10 days and had an amazing experience! The desk staff is very helpful and friendly and gave me a lot of valuable information. The kitchen is large and clean. The rooms and bathrooms are also clean. It's in a great location close to the metro and restaurants and grocery shops. There is a nice park nearby. One of the best hostels I've stayed at.

    We had a great experience in the hostal. Everything was clean and the assistance from the staff was excellent. I would recommend staying here thanks to Angie, Edwin and Carolina who made the whole experience worthwhile.

    Hidden in the centre, Accessible by bus, and metro very nearby.Away from the noise of the centre like ambulances ect.Very lovely, helpful staff members.All of them with a different pleasant vibe.You will really feel welcomed at home.I slept in dorm as well as a private room.Mattresses where a bit firm, not soft.Kitchen is small but good to use.I would advise them to work on the water tap with a special filter or at least the clean the water kettle regulary, which is full of chalk and that is what you drink.
