    Hostal Rio Amazonas...Top Class

    rating01 Jun 2025

I spent a week at this lovely Hostal in March of this year-2025-and was so impressed that I decided to return a number of times during the ten weeks I spent in Chile....The room I was given was large and clean and frequently serviced.Breakfast each morning was excellent and the location was perfect-a short walk to Banquedano, the nearest metro station...Sleep quality was perfect. The staff really helped to make my stay so enjoyable...I want to mention Caroline who handled check-in during my first visit,as well as Janice,Javiera-an excellent chef-Antonia,Fran,Christian,Claudia and Sebastian...A special thanks to Ron for those early morning discussions about his home country and for those early breakfasts before I headed to the airport....Many thanks to Miriam and her Dad Fabiano and again to Claudia for the free room upgrade when I arrived late one evening....This is a top class place to stay-convenient,clean, super friendly and well managed...THE PLACE TO STAY IN SANTIAGO...Worth returning to...Top marks... 10 out of 10.

Amazing, quaint gem of a small hotel!

    rating30 Mar 2025

I just returned from my trip to Chile and had the best stay here in Santiago! I booked this hotel over a year and a half ago and had to postpone it twice due to foot surgeries. I contacted the hotel and Claudia postponed my stays with no problem! Great communication and I loved them before I ever arrived! When I did arrive, I was greeted in the sidewalk by Ginny, the hotel’s mascot. Everybody who assisted me at the desk, no matter the time of day, was friendly and helpful. My room was great and I even had an extra side room, so I kept my suitcase and clothes on that bed. All the comforts of home, great wifi, walking distance to the Bellavista shopping/dining area and the Baquedano metro station. I added the breakfast on the mornings I didn’t have early tours and it was great! I had dinner and drinks a night and everything was very good. Small, comfortable, boutique hotel in a gorgeous old building!

Lovely boutique hotel conveniently located and reasonably priced.

This adorable ‘Hostel’ (Boutique Hotel) was a wonderful respite from our nearly two weeks hiking in Patagonia. It had every thing I wanted: A helpful English speaking owner/manager, good WIFI throughout , food (complimentary breakfast / a la carte dinner menu), The facility is convenient to downtown, lots of local restaurants, and the funicular from which one can get fantastic views of Santiago.

Wonderful B&B in the heart of Santiago

    rating30 Sept 2023

Rio Amazonas is a charming boutique hotel in the center of Santiago, and close to all the hip eateries and bars of the city. Carol and her team are so pleasant and make you feel right at home. The bed was comfortable, it’s very quiet, and breakfast each morning was excellent.

    Remarkable

    rating25 Apr 2023

Hostal Rio Amazonas was everything we could have asked for. The staff was friendly, hospitable, and helpful. The hotel had a great vibe with all the color, art, and traditional architecture. Breakfast is included in the room rate, but you can also buy food/drinks in the cafe throughout the day, which was VERY helpful after almost 24 hours of travel to get there! The bathrooms have soap but no shampoo/conditioner, so keep that in mind. The rooms are cleaned every three days, which worked for us. In terms of location, this is not a fancy or upscale area of town. If you want something more upscale, you are better off staying in a different neighborhood; but for us, this was great. It was close to the metro and sights such as: Cerro San Cristobal, La Chascona, and more. We had a great stay at Hostal Rio Amazonas and would definitely stay again as well as recommend it to other travelers!
