  Comfortable Stay in a Convenient Location

  The rooms are very comfortable, and we appreciated that different pillow types are available upon request. We highly recommend booking a sea-view room—after long days of walking and climbing Valparaíso’s many stairs, it was wonderful to relax and watch the activity at the working dock. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast offered a good variety of options.The location is excellent: very close to two funiculars that take you up to the historic, scenic areas; right next to the train station; and beside a small mall with a convenience store, general shops, a food court, a pharmacy, and an electronics store. There’s also a weekend market, restaurants and banks within easy walking distance. We had read some reviews mentioning safety concerns. While we didn’t go out late at night, we never felt unsafe and were comfortable walking around during our stay.

  Incredible staff made our stay special

  The location of this hotel is great -- walking distance to all the main attractions and right on top of the metro station. Breakfast was limited but tasty. It can be quite busy, though, and on one of the days, the bread baskets and cheeses were all empty and we had to wait for more to be prepared. What really made our stay special, though, was the kind staff. During checkin, we were upgraded to a room with a view of the port and WOW. If you are able to get a room overlooking the water, you should because it is incredible.   double charging the 19% Chilean VAT; avoid this hotel at all costs

  If I can give this hotel zero star, I will because this hotel turned back on their full refund promise and double charged me the 19% Chilean VAT. Please avoid this hotel at all costs.I booked my stay at this hotel using my points via Chase travel portal (check in: 12/31/2024; check out: 1/1/2025), which already covers the hotel room rate plus the tax (please see the attached image). However, my credit card is still charged for the full amount (room rate + tax). On my check-out date, the hotel front desk staff admitted that it is a mistake, promised a full refund (including tax) to my credit card, and issued the document (please see the attached image) to me as proof that they will issue the full refund (including tax). However, as of 1/9/2025, I still have not received the full refund including the tax yet, which means that ibis Valparaiso charged me TWICE for the 19% Chilean VAT (one from the points via Chase travel portal; the other one on my credit card), even after their promise of full refund and the proof documents they issued to me at my hand. Such practice from this hotel is essentially stealing the money from their customers, which is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable.I suggest that everyone should avoid booking this hotel at all costs in the future such that ibis Valparaiso won't have the chance to steal the customers' money in the future.   good location with a partial view to harbor and well sorted breakfast buffet, close to Plaza Sotomayor and Mercador within walking distance, offers an island of comfort within an old city (now unfortunately in decline) spread across many hills.   Wonderful stay at New Year

  We stayed here for two nights over New Year’s Eve. Would highly recommend it as a great base to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks. The staff could not do enough and were very welcoming and accommodating. We had a fantastic view from the hotel rooftop for the fabulous fireworks. The food was also excellent and the little touches like a gift in your room were very welcomed. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
