    Wonderful hotel and staff

    rating21 May 2026

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 3 nights in May 2026. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was just perfect. We arrived at the hotel at 9am and by 10am the reception staff managed to get our room ready for us to get into it. A big thank you to Jerry Qi for arranging that! It was a great start after more than a day of travelling. We were shown to our room by a manager - a Russian woman called Sivenia (I think) - who gave us a tour of the hotel and told us about its history. The room was huge, immaculate and very clean. We just loved it. It was a great base for us as we explored Beijing. The hotel location was also perfect - very close to the underground train station and to Tiananmen Square. We would strongly recommend this hotel - everything about it felt great. We travel the world a lot. This hotel is up there with the best, thanks to the wonderful team that run it. Thank you - we will never forgot our wonderful stay in Beijing 曲 Infor, 客户服务/前台 at Beijing Hotel NUO, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for your kind words and for choosing Beijing Hotel NUO. Biggest room in Beijing

    rating20 May 2026

First time in China and to say we were apprehensive is a huge understatement. We arrive at 3am and the hotel was empty. I think we had to waken the receptionist. Our expectation of type of room was low, but it shouldn’t have been. We obtained one of the biggest rooms I’ve stayed in.Bedroom, living room and a meeting room which we never used. Two balconies which we couldn’t access.A slight lack of shower gel in large bathroom. Air conditioning was poor and our room couldn’t or wouldn’t go below 24 degrees.Well equipped albeit old gym and large swimming pool. The location was amazing. Right beside main shopping street with some great restaurants. The breakfast wasn’t too my liking, albeit there was a large selection.Lack of English at reception so getting info etc was very difficult. If ever I go back to Beijing I’d stay here. 曲 Infor, 客户服务/前台 at Beijing Hotel NUO, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing Beijing Hotel NUO for your first visit to China, and for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely appreciate your thoughtful comments, as they help us continuously improve our services. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed our prime location near the main shopping street and restaurants, as well as the spaciousness of your suite. Your kind words about our gym and swimming pool are also greatly appreciated. At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay, including the air conditioning performance, the availability of shower gel, and the language barriers at the reception. Please rest assured that we have shared your feedback with the relevant departments for immediate review and improvement. We are also actively enhancing our team’s language support to better assist international guests. It means a lot to us that you would consider staying with us again on your next visit to Beijing. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with a more comfortable and seamless experience.Should you have any further suggestions or need assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.Beijing Hotel NUO

Still recommended for specific reasons, but not as good as it used to be

    rating18 Apr 2026

I stayed at this hotel twice before, about a decade and then half a decade ago (but can't find the review(s) here). It was not a NUO hotel then, and sadly, this was the worst time I have stayed here - clearly, the hotel (kind of a large complex of buildings but this is the flagship one) has gone downhill. Not in infrastructure though but in service, which is why it gets the four stars - both the Soviet checkin lady and the concierge were very non-customer oriented, just not friendly to the point of abrasive and snickering about normal requests or questions, and unpleasant to deal with. (The bellboys were great.)As regards the checkin, we had heritage suites booked for the historic main building, bit were assigned similar large and well-furnished quarters in building 7 which is a modern wing just behind it. Not a terrible loss because it's much quieter and, especially, in the same house as the large pool, which one could thus visit in bathrobe and slippers, which is always convenient. (Pool and gym are large and well-maintained and while getting towels is not easy and the attendant is more self-centered too, in the end it's a really nice feature.)For Didi bookings, because of the labyrinthine complex, it is better to have Didi ordered to the convention center exit in the back (bellboys will show). The subway is really seconds from the main door of the cheaper wing to the right (direct connection inside), and location is great because this is Changan Ave, the true center of Beijing today, very close to Wangfujing (ideal for food and shopping) and in easy walking distance to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City. (For which you need a ticket, for which you need to register at least the previous day, for which the concierge will help, which I recommend because it really makes things easier.)The rooms, as mentioned, nice in a five-star way, not old, very spacious, definitely a highlight. Separate bathtub room and shower and still separate bathroom with sink etc. and big closet. Very good amenities, although it's weird that one gets a bag of toothbrush, comb etc at checkin whereas shampoo, lotion etc (which are large and of better quality) are in the room and replenished daily. Plugs, strangely, are not Western, as the only good hotel like that I have seen this time in China, except one behind the TV, so if you want to charge phone and netbook, it's one after the other. Tea and coffee provided are a bit subpar; water is plenty. Finally, you need to pay a 1000 yuan deposit, which is not cheap. As usual, I had my card blocked, and they said it would be released, but in fact it was deducted rather than blocked, and now, a week later, it still has not been returned. Not nice and not necessary.Altogether, the big rooms, the pool, the location, even some of the aura make me recommend the place still, but wouldn't it be possible to get some competent and friendly personnel for the front office, reception and conciergerie? Gavin Qu, at Beijing Hotel NUO, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for choosing to stay with us again and for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We sincerely appreciate your loyalty as a returning guest and are truly sorry to learn that your recent experience did not meet the expectations set by your previous visits, especially regarding aspects of our service. We are glad to know that you still found value in our spacious and well-appointed rooms, the convenience of our prime location on Chang’an Avenue, the quality of our wellness facilities, and the overall aura of the property. Your acknowledgment of the bell staff’s excellent service has been warmly shared with the team.At the same time, we deeply regret the instances you described where our front office and concierge service fell short of the attentive, courteous standard we strive to uphold. Such conduct is not reflective of our commitment to guest care, and we are addressing this internally through reinforcement of training and service protocols. Regarding the deposit process, we apologize for the delay and inconvenience caused. Our finance team is following up to ensure a prompt resolution and will review the procedure to prevent future recurrences.Your constructive observations—from room amenities and signage to the Didi pickup process—are genuinely valuable as we continually work to refine the guest experience. It is feedback like yours that helps us identify precise areas for improvement. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and to demonstrate the level of warm, competent service that should always define a stay with us. Should your travels bring you to Beijing again, please do not hesitate to contact me directly so that I may assist in arranging your visit.

The older rooms at this hotel are terrible

    rating29 Oct 2025

As another review post mentions, the location of this hotel on Google Maps is wrong. This hotel is right next to 北京飯店, directly in front of a subway station exit on East Chang’an Ave. The location is super convenient relative to the subway system. We stayed in one of the 2 queen bed suite that is NOT the latest updated ones. While the space is still big it is definitely NOT 5 star hotel quality. We had the following issues during our stay: (1) There is no individual temperature control in the rooms. The initial suite we were given (7608) was way too warm (80F/25C) with no way to cool it down. The staff offered a fan but it was insufficient. It was extremely frustrating trying to tell the staff about the problem and they seem only able to offer a fan and no other solution. We ended up getting a room change to 7601 where is was much cooler. 7608 was definitely defective.(2) The shower, when starting, would occasionally run cold for like 3min before hot water kicked in(3) There was a cockroach that showed up in the room one night. I included a photo.Given the hotel is charging 5 star prices ($150 US per night before service charge and taxes). This was all very disappointing. Qu Gavin, 客户服务/前台 at Beijing Hotel NUO, responded to this review Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing Beijing Hotel NUO and for your feedback after your recent stay with us. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us; it is invaluable in helping us enhance our service and quality. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the room. Fabulous City Centre Stay

    rating21 Oct 2025

We stayed in an Elite Classic room and were very pleased. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. They have everything you could need including robes, slippers, coffee & tea and a full amenity kit. We took average of the complimentary appetizers and drinks in the lobby bar. The location is great, within walking distance of Forbidden City and a walking street with loads of restaurants and shops. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Would recommend for a central stay in Beijing.
